In my experience, most combat knives take unnecessarily long to deploy. The problem is worse with most bayonets, but due to the realism that's sort of acceptable.
It would be nice if it was easier to switch to a knife, since often when you need it, you need it fast.

This. It?s pretty much useless at this point. As an officer, it?s even faster to deploy your handgun instead of knife in close combat.
I only remember using my knife last time was sneaking behind a sniper.

Re: Knives and Bayonets
I think the knife is intended to be a tactical weapon; we are meant to employ it only when stealth is paramount. If you need to draw your knife after emptying your primary weapon, then you are already lucky to be alive. If you can make it to cover, 1.5 to 3 seconds really isn't that long to gain access to an instant-kill, infinite-ammo backup. Or, just reload. I only go for the knife in CQB when I am certain the enemy is also reloading, and even then it is really more the blood knight speaking in me than cool-headed tactical sense.
Also I could swear this topic has been beat to death.

Re: Knives and Bayonets
Switch to 'Bludgeon mode' instead with your rifle - much quicker

Re: Knives and Bayonets
I too think knives should be faster, at the very least faster than the handgun/anything else to deploy.
It's useful in emergencies (if the enemy is stupid enough to be that close before spraying)
It's useful period - it's impossible to use it for stealth as most of the time you need your rifle anyway
in order to respond to potential threat. By the time you're close enough / in a position for a stealth kill the
noise of you pulling and flipping this knife about seems to alert every enemy in 25 min since it's so noisy.
