At least theye removed Metro on startup, and had start button back, so you can actually use desktop in the old way. You can switch to metro anytime you like, but I dont see why would anyone using PC do that.
For other "features" Im not sure what is new there, but they kept win8 squarish look and everything with it.
Windows 2000 was not odd number and it was one of the best they ever made - hence XP is built on it ( XP was in fact win2k with themes and visual styles )
