Fighting Commander Death Urban Legend

Post by RAWSwampFox »

Good Evening,

Ok, this is crazy, I'm still encountering people that have believed the urban legend that when a fighting commander dies in the field the team loses a boatload of tickets. I've heard 10, 15, 25, 50, and even 100. All of this is untrue. If this was the case, it would be mentioned in the manual number one and it would be extremely obvious in the score at the end of the round.

Here are some screenshots to prove my point:

Notice that when I become wounded the team only loses one point. When I become "dead dead", my team only loses one more which totals 2 tickets.

Please let people know this, spread the word.

It is a useful urban legend for it provides a good argument why commanders should not fight :)

Build a FOB, use the CO rally, scream at soldiers in local, hop in the UAV - but don't fight!

The really sad thing is, that many people still don't know that your team loses 1 ticket everytime you go wounded.

Some people think killing an INS officer (with officer kit) gets +10 intel points. Is it true?

From (hazy) memory there used to be different point for cell leaders, back in the day. But now the intel points are the same for everyone (except civis outside of the ROE).

OT - Keep bustin' them myths SwampFox :D

Cheers, Murkey.

Alright man, I've had enough of this. I know for a FACT that when you die as a commander your team loses 100 tickets. This game is Project Reality, and they have to depict the real world! Commanders in the real world are worth at least 100x more than other soldiers! Besides, I can't even see your screenshots, this is all bogus.

Kidding.

Truly good work, I will spread the good word.

I liked when an admin kicked somebody for being a fighting commander because of this. Which is funny because we could not convince the admin that 100 tickets were not lost on commander death.

Serious, although I'm not sure if it was in that version or not. But it does ring a bell that commander deaths in an ancient version of PR resulted in a big ticket loss.

Two questions about intelligence points (not tickets):

1. Does bluefor get an intel point for wounding and insurgent or do you have to make em dead dead?

2. Does killing an insurgent commander give you more intel points?

Thanks.

Seems it's only when they've given up, but the terminology in the code is confusing. It would make sense if it's when they give up though.

The commander does not yield any more intel than normal.

It is kinda funny actually, that the commander is limited by a lie. And the only way for him to overcome this is to be able to convince a bunch of people they are wrong and he is right, a true test of a commander. So if you were kicked for that, your a shit CO :P
