Team Placement/Russian Forces Questions

Hey guys, I just have a couple questions:

1- Is team placement completely random? Because on some maps I always seem to be sorted to one side, and it's getting a little annoying because I like my variety.

2- Since I'm almost always sorted to the RU side whenever the chance presents itself (I guess PR hates me), Ive had some playtime with them, and they're definitely my least favorite faction. Anyways, I've questioned some other guys about their opinion on those huge optic scopes and the majority of them say much of the russian equipment, including the optics that I and many people hate, are quite outdated for the russian military. I was wondering if this is true, and if so, are there any plans to update the Russian equipment? Thanks.

Team placement is not random, if you're in the blufor side you'll get switch to the Opfor.

But there are maps that have the, usually, opfor faction on the blufor side, for example:
You play Saarema as Russian (Opfor) then the server switches to Dovre here you'll play as Russian but in the Blufor side.

Or you may be getting team switched by the autoballance

Also as far as i'm aware the 1p29 scope is still in service and has not been replaced.

The balancing algorithm works like this for players joining the game:

Are both teams perfectly balanced (50:50 etc)?
- If yes, put player on blufor

Are teams not perfectly balanced but less than the autobalance threshold (usually +/-2)?
- If yes, put player on blufor

Else:
- Put player on Opfor

So that's why it's harder to get on the blufor side if you're already ingame, because every chance you'd have to switch, that slot is filled by a joining player.

There is actually 2 good vehicules with the russian faction the BMP3 and the T90 that all, regarding to weapons the AK 74M is hard to handle even with this BIG scope taking nearly half of your screen, even worse when using BUIS system.

You can feel the lack of modernization of the Russian compared to the others.

all of the factions have got inaccuracies due to the ever changing natures of their RL counterparts, some placeholders etc.

The members of the Russian comfac team have mostly moved on from PR afaik, there's simply too much content to keep updated by the core PR team to be honest, each comfac generally had its own dedicated team and while some of those team members remained in the PR team/community many of them are no longer with us.

But, the Russian assets we have ingame are of excellent quality albeit the equipment is a few years out of date. The Russian scopes are big I agree, but afaik they have already been artificially decreased in size from the RL counterpart
