Bit Torrent requires burning to disk?

Post by Dogfhart »

Gentlemen,

Got the free version of BitTorrent downloader as required
Got the 6.8GB file PrBf21200fulliso file in my downloads thingy

But its a "Disk Image File" and wants to burn to a disk. The Windows (or is it Torrent) Disk Image Burner dialog box dropdown doesn't have an option for sending the file elsewhere for opening/installing/unpacking, etc. Just "DVD R F:"

I was expecting the "Run/Save as" windows dialog box typical with other patches/files, etc. When i tried to drag/drop out of downloads to desktop and it wouldn't let me.

Q: Is this normal? I.E. everyone else has/had the same gymnastics to get PR running?

Mightily confused...just want to get my PR life back.
I miss it so much.
:(

Okay!
Making a little progress now. Grabbed the 7-zip...extracted the prbf2iso file...even clicked on the correct icon to start the setup which is playing WAY over my head in terms of computer skills.

Next, the PRiso installer insisted I create a file path (not something in my skill set) so I pointed it to EA games/x86/battlefield 2 (or something like that...it looked right anyway) and the installer told me I didn't have the 1.41 or 1.5 patches and couldn't proceed with install.

So, i backed out of install process. Having said all that I was operating under the assumption that since the game was working prior to the whole Gamespy debacle my BF2 was patched.

Q: Since I have the retail version of BF2 (disc's sitting in their original box over there) should I uninstall all instances of BF2 from my hard drive/desktop/shortcuts, etc. and start fresh...lay on the 1.41/1.5 patches THEN install the prbf2iso? If so, then I should also uninstall/delete all the old PR patches hanging around on my rig too, right? Just as a matter of digital hygiene?

Also, I downloaded the 1.41 from link in the installation guide and got, "Can't find install folder BF2". I'm guessing the 1.5 will do the same...dunno. Starting to wonder if it's a 32 vs 64 thing since some of the files I'm downloading ask for and deliver with different extensions. I have a 64.

AHA!

I'm in...actually got to play a little on =HOG= server. Then, I closed it down/exit to work on my sound card. Then, I went to fire PR back up only to find it was still running...meaning, it was running in background and never shut down...which is weird. So, I went to task manager and closed it there since I didn't know how else to do it. Restarted computer, tried to get PR launched and got a "1001" error.

no joy in Mudville it seems.

Try this htread for the 1001 error.
Sounds like your antivirus or firewall went into "installation mode" when you first played PR. When you shutdown the game, it went back to normal mode. Check to see if PRBF2.exe and PRlauncher.exe and PRmumble.exe have exceptions in your Antivirus and firewall.
