Updating Armies.

Post by greg3000 »

Since we are in 2015 most of the factions in PR are out dated either by camoflage, vehicles, weapons. So i was thinking we as community should point out all the outdated Stuff Listed from the above ?

We (The Dev Team) are very aware that much of our kit is very out dated and we are also aware of what we should have ingame now.

The problem is that we simply don't have the man power to update all of these assets which would also result in many of our old items, which for the most part work perfectly well, being removed from the mod even if we did manage to get everything updated. We are working on updating what we can but we have bigger fish to fry for the most part.

As such if there is something that someone from the community really wants updated, it is best that that person who is enthusiastic about it takes the task upon themselves and tries to make it, as per how pretty much all of the Devs started off, as community memebers wanting to make a diffrence to the mod, which also includes myself.

Thanks.

This certainly won't be an issue anytime soon but I wonder if project reality would benefit from a cut off date. For instance, if the US military decided tomorrow to discontinue the service of all optics except those with FLIR capabilities, it wouldn't be very balanced from a game play perspective to include it. In fact its fairly obvious that some real world technology has not been emulated in this game for that exact reason. This is not to say I completely disagree with what the OP wants though.

I think the devs like to have volunteers. I don't really think it's necessary to do this. I think the game is the most balanced since it was made. (Or, at least when I first started playing PR.... back in like 2008 or something)

A volunteer motivated to make X scope or Y turret for an existing weapon or vehicle is very much appreciated, there's just too much to keep updated by the core team. Most of the community members who made various factions ingame did not remain to maintain those assets and therefore the task fell to the devs and the members who remained...leaving much still to do (and more to do over time as those RL factions evolved IRL).

However if you're intention is just to discuss latest military updates (not necessarily for inclusion in PR), that's absolutely fine! Please do! The military technology section is the most appropriate place for that discussion to take place :)

I kind of like having kit from a few years ago, I kind of wish we could get snapshots of what regular infantryman were lugging around from different decades for sake of shifting balance between the two factions a bit. Barricuda is just fantastic for this.

It's obviously a workload no one with the know-how would want to take on a this point, and I'd wager it's a little late to start learning...
