Hello Community,
Apologies in advance if this thread should be somewhere else. This is my first post here in the forums, but I've been playing PR for years.
And for all those years I was playing on a 17" square monitor. But I just got a sweet 22" widescreen and unfortunately I can't get the game image to look right on it. It seems that no matter which monitor settings I choose, the game image is slightly distorted. It's always a little stretched either horizontally or vertically.
Any suggestions for monitor settings for the game?
Here are my monitor specs:
DellTM E2210H 22? Widescreen Flat Panel Monitor
Current Resolution: 1920 x 1080
Thanks,
-Almond
P.S. Other games look just fine on it i.e. Battlefield 4, CS Global Offensive
Recommended Resolution for 22" Monitor?

The one you have selected 190x1080 is ideal. Tone it down if you like... it's your taste. Smaller Resolutions tend to give better FPS (In my POV at least). But, play around with them, just go create a local server, and try it out.

Re: Recommended Resolution for 22" Monitor?
I suggest keeping native, and check if game is really set on 1080p resolution, because I play PR on that resolution as well and everything looks fine.
If you are playing on 17 inch, than screen is 4:3 ration - square. But your new monitor is 16:9 ration - widescreen. So, as I said check in-game what resolution you have set (you can change it in PR launcher), because that is the reason why its streching.

Your resolution set in PRLauncher should be 1920x1080. However, due to BF2 being really old and not originally supporting widescreen, the menu and HUD will indeed appear stretched. This is normal. But the 3D game world will not be stretched.

Re: Recommended Resolution for 22" Monitor?
External monitors tend to have bigger pixels than laptop monitors. For instance, 1280x720 pixels on my laptop monitor is about 12 inches wide. That same resolution on my external monitor is 1.5 inches wider. Same resolution, but bigger pixels and thus bigger image on screen with no loss of framerate.
The external monitor is already a plus. The game running at native resolution, while a bigger picture, will NOT improve performance, despite what some may tell you. The game will always run better at a lower resolution.
If you have an AMD card, there should be display scaling options in Catlyst COntrol Center. GPU scaling with "maintain aspect ratio" or "centered timings" should work.
There are also resolution setting in the PRLauncher.
Also, some people might tell you that since BF2/PR were designed to run on a single core, that you should set core affinity for the game to 1 core, making it use only one. This is 100% bad info. It may be designed to run on one core, and may favor one core, but multiple cores is always best.
