BF2 no longer being sold??
Hi guys,
being a huge fan of this mod and it being pretty much the only thing ive been playing for the last year, I wanted to get my friends into it so we could play together. I was very surprised to find today that BF2 is no longer available for purchase from steam or origin because they felt uncomfortable selling the game after the online services shut down.
Not sure if i have been living under a rock but this is news to me and it presents a big problem when trying to introduce new players to this amazing mod.
Does anyone know a work around to this issue?
Any help is appreciated,
Matt

Can someone explain me one thing. BF2 not in the shops anymore, and not supported by EA, if someone downloading it via torrents does it still counts as a piracy?

That search button is a bit lonely. If you press it and type what you want to know, it won't be lonely anymore.RarWinZip wrote:Can someone explain me one thing. BF2 not in the shops anymore, and not supported by EA, if someone downloading it via torrents does it still counts as a piracy?![]()

Its illegal to download PIRATED copy of BF2 via torrent. What makes torrent bad is the CONTENT, not that you are using it.

Re: BF2 no longer being sold??
But what if official distributor no longer distributes it? "PIRATED copy", well as far as I know, there's no such thing like "pirated" BF2 since it's authentication is unavalible now. How are they going to determine which copy is pirated and which is not? And how you're going to determine which copy do you bought, since you can't activate them on Steam and Origin anymore, even if you got a new copy, because they canceled support of last unsold copies? Be aware! You can buy "official" cd-key which is "pirated" aswell because there's no such thing as authentication anymore at all. That's what I am talking about. I've got two official copies of BF myself, but there's no point in it, since there's no authentication avalible, i've checked it, it's not working(pb aswell).Cossack wrote:This is true.

This might make it morally right to some, does not make it legally right.RarWinZip wrote:But what if official distributor no longer distributes it? So, there're people which can't play PR than? Because, I repeat, there's no way you can get authentic copy of BF2 since there's no authentication service availible.Raic wrote:This might make it morally right to some, does not make it legally right.

Re: BF2 no longer being sold??
That is what happens when games stop being supported, BF2 is in no way first or last. PR uses its own authentication which still requires a cd-key. If amazon gives you a cd-key, buy it from there. Nobody cares where you get the data, you have purhaced the right to use it.RarWinZip wrote:So, there're people which can't play PR than? Re: BF2 no longer being sold??
Again, to the best of my knowledge PR will work even if BF2 does not, as long as the key is legal.
I'm not sure how that'll change in the future, but for now please try to get a legal key.
(Please correct me if I'm wrong if anyone has a key that is certainly legit but does not work with PR)

So, you're telling me, if you bought generated illegal Cd-Key(because you can't check it's authentic and you cannot know what did you buy), you're okay?Raic wrote:That is what happens when games stop being supported, BF2 is in no way first or last. Re: BF2 no longer being sold??
BF2 is not supported anymore at all. You can use whatever key you want, it needs to be the same size though, i've checked it, they've turned off auth server and PB support. EA just don't give a heck about us.[R-DEV]Spec wrote:Again, to the best of my knowledge PR will work even if BF2 does not, as long as the key is legal.
