Battlefield 2142 shaders for Project Reality legal?

Post by Arab »

Can Battlefield 2142 shaders_client.zip be merged with Project Reality's one for the upcoming update?
I use it to fix the black dot glitch that's present in Battlefield 2/Project Reality for the outdated Geforce 8400m GS card.

AFAIK the files are the exactly the same for both .zips, though BF2142 has more files but the codes are slightly updated on some lines.

Forgot to add, but I didn't merge both shaders, instead I mounted it to clientarchives under shader_client2142.zip.

After I did it, I cleaned the shader folder in PRLauncher, and I'm testing it again just to make sure it really works and I'm not forgetting anything.

Edit: It doesn't work. Nevermind about it. I read that someone copied the terrain files from the shaders into bf2 and it worked, but punkbuster doesn't like it.

The artifacts are very minor, and they happen in the sky when moving.

I've come to the conclusion that the mobile Geforce 8400m GS (OLD 2007 junk card) is a weak POS. Lock please.

We've been using 2142's Terrain High shader since 1.0.

I'm assuming by black dot glitch, you're talking about black spots on the terrain? That fixed that, you shouldn't have the issue since 1.0? If it's something else, that's new, probably your graphics card. The 8400m GS is indeed a weak POS, probably dying with it that old.
