Best city in any map

Post by RAWSwampFox »

Good Evening,

Ok, not to take anything away from kitty's great thread about maps, but some things were mentioned that made me think of starting this thread. Which map has the best looking city and/or best "fighting in" city?

Ok, I can't find the name of the city... haha... and I start this thread....

Oh well... it's the city at the bottom SW corner of the Shija Valley map. I think a layer of that city with light assets would be freaking awesome. Maybe even include the power plant beside it to make it a bit bigger.

Good Evening,

The more I think of it, wouldn't it be neat if there were a "city" only layer for the maps that have rather large cities? Heck, you could do a ton of Insurgency maps with that instead of having the same old Fallujah type of map.

Devs, couldn't this be done with just a sliver of coding?

And the list goes on.... Just look at the map gallery: Project Reality: BF2 Map Gallery

The problem is, server admins don't run them...

Most servers have become filthy democracies. Admins need to reassert control over the common rabble or we shall have anarchy at our doorstep.

Definitely Dragon Fly's city. Close second is Iron Ridge's and Bijar Canyon (Bijar or Alkomin).

Bijar in Bijar Canyon, just about the only city with actual terrain hight differences.

The village in Asad Khal, so many ways to flank Blufor and lay ambushes. Also you get CQB aswell as long distances.

Sbeneh. It is so intense to see BMP-2 rolling in narrow streets with infantry covering it.

West part of the south west city in Shijia is my personal favorite. It has a juxtoppose feel to it next to the big city and is nice and tight really giving it an old, precar feeling. Also the channels running through look awesome, are very unique and very well done.

Marlin city is by far my favorite. Specially with the canal splitting it up

I actually really enjoyed the grozny playtest a few months back, it was really really cool fighting in the ruins and the inner city of that map. You could just run through all the buildings avoiding the tanks on the main road.

Good Morning,

Rhino, I guess you think I'm dumb. :P I know the dadgum skirmish layers exist but they are grunts only. I'm talking about putting light assets in them. The size of Shija Valley skirmish for example, would lend itself to some light tin cans running around.

Burning Sands on the other hand, that is way to small and in no way represents the complete city. Whoever did that layout must've grew up in a shotgun house. If your from the south in the U.S., you know what I'm talking about. :)
