What to upgrade?

Post by BattleGuy234 »

Love this game. Here's what I'm playing it on:

Core 2 CPU 6700 @ 2.66 GHZ
4 GB RAM
AMD Radeon HD 6670 1 GB

Would I notice an improvement if I increased my RAM, or am I bottlenecked on my CPU or video card?

Ram and CPU, but you are going to see the biggest difference if you upgrade your CPU.

Just remember that bf2 does not use more cores than 1.

We really would need to know
1. your motherboard model.
2. your power supply unit (and how old it is)

My general opinion is don't upgrade piecemeal on such an old system, ( E6700 Launch Date Q3'06 )

If you do upgrade, you have to find the max TDP of your motherboard, and the wattage (and age decay) of your PSU. Then go find a Core2 or Core2Quad on Ebay or similar that has a higher base frequency.

If your PSU can handle it, You can also pick up a used GPU on EBay, a GTX 560 Ti or something cheap like that.

But I'd vote against upgrading piecemeal.

Sounds like the consensus is that my CPU is the bottleneck, which is the one thing I'm pretty sure I've maxed out for my motherboard. Bummer. Guess I'll need to keep my eye out for a better system.

Thanks for the advice.
