It's a server-side thing, so you don't need to d/l anything ;-)

All details are in the top page. You join the Official PR Insurgency 2.0 Alpha Test - Event Server and that's pretty much all you need :) Enjoy

"Added new function that allows to decide on the area of the next cache, it will be set by the server in case the commander doesn't set the next cache area in time."

Calling it right now, this is going to be abused to hell. Also, when are we going to get the sick jihad tunes back for the civi cars? :(

no changes for insurgents weapons?

i don't like that idea of the commander set the cache were he wants, if he is smart he will put it close to the main base or if he is dumb he will put close to bluefor main base or if no one wants to be the Commander there will be no cache=no game.

Wrong on all levels. If there is no commander, the server will automatically place cache.

if no one wants to be the Commander there will be no cache=no game.
If there is no commander, the game will just randomly select where to put the cache.

better, but still the commander can change the pace of the game, still to much power for one hand.

Also bear in mind 3 things,
  • The commander only sets the Area were the next cache will be it might next to him or it may be a bit further away (eg: 75m on 1km)
  • The cache locations is still in the control of the mapper, its not like spawning a fob
  • Like current rules a cache cant be close to position were one was previously

Dont question the wikipedia! Just because it reports different things on different languages does not make it unreliable source!

I feel like the cache emplacement might be a little confusing.. is it possible so that when you are insurgent commander, it gives you icons as to where all of the possible cache locations can be so that when you are choosing a location you want it to be in, it doesn't accidentally spawn somewhere you do not want it?

Only worry I have is commander moving cache to places where hard cache positions are all the time. Will make it much more important for insurgency maps to have balanced cache locations overall.

Looking forward to test!

I like most changes, but I feel that BLUFOR will have a very hard time getting anything done now. Some of the changes sound innocent, but will have a drastic effect (e.g. only one cache instead of two) . But I guess we'll just see later! :)

Looking forward to it, and am very happy you guys took it upon yourself to invest some love into poor neglected Insurgency.

It crashes, apparently. Can I suggest just running the Skirmish at the start instead of running next?

I would have imagined that you'd make sure it actually works before running the alpha event, but I may have expected too much.
