if this doesnt work you can just run tpaint once then open the colormap.tga edit your texture and save the colormap.tga and make it read only, then run tpaint again and everything will get splitted to the colormaps folder

what do you mean with compressed .tga file ? it has to be 4096? pixel Geocontrol usually exports 1024? so you have to scale it up

no _minimap is simply that you did not make your init.con read only and the team settings got overwritten by the editor.
