Changing hash/CD Key?

Here's the deal: I installed BF2 through my brother's Origin account since I have an old CD key from back when you purchased BF2 in a box and it's the quickest way to download BF2. (RIP CDs) However, now I realize the hash you receive is semi-permanent. How could I go about changing the hash? I've read re-installing OS + PR which is completely not happening. Any other way?

Setting Windows clock forward a few days and then changing the key in regedit worked for me.
