Re: Free Candy Van
alright so we had a lot of crashes today, we're not entirely sure where its coming from yet... hopefully its something fixable. locked the server again for now while we dig into the issues. might be something related to the script that forces no-squads before 2:00... dunno yet.

Make sure you don't have the warning messages for entering vehicles before a certain number of people enabled. That gave us some trouble.Bluedrake42 wrote:alright so we had a lot of crashes today, we're not entirely sure where its coming from yet... hopefully its something fixable. locked the server again for now while we dig into the issues. might be something related to the script that forces no-squads before 2:00... dunno yet.

Yeah its like a minefield. I wish someone would take the time to figure out the most stable configuration for servers and just upload that as the dedi download package.Reaperspr0digy wrote:Make sure you don't have the warning messages for entering vehicles before a certain number of people enabled. So is there some reason this server currently has no autobalance?

If they changed it to a VPS, it may not have enough "juice" to run a full capacity server (100players). Depends on what got assigned.FFG wrote:When I was playing today, The server experienced mad rubber banding.

Re: Free Candy Van
Our VPS isn't the problem, we were heavily DDoS attacked today as soon as we seeded. Someone appears to be watching the server list, and attacking us whenever our server seeds.
Hello,
Your VPS has been the target of a DDoS attack, we will continue to monitor this situation.
Thank you,

This. Please enable autobalance by default, or have more admins that can enable it (I asked SunnyD to do it but he didn't have the permissions). It got pretty bad yesterday balance wise. I think it was 21-38?Nightingale wrote:So is there some reason this server currently has no autobalance?

Yeah the weird thing is that we do, we're trying to figure out how it got disabled. I think when the server restarted it disabled it somehow. We're working on it

Re: Free Candy Van
Also, yesterday the server was experiencing a "mapvote bug" on Al Basrah.
Everytime someone joined the server, the server would announce that that person had called for a mapvote and it would ask everybody in the server to vote with PgUp or PgDn. As the mapvote text is very large and noticeable, this got annoying really really fast.
3 people were mistaken for griefers and tempbanned. The admin had to do a runnext to solve the problem.
So I guess that's another thing to look out for when you are looking at all the settings.

Just DDoS'd again. Roughly the same time, only seems to be at times when we are full. So someone is probably targeting us when other players leave other servers to play on ours.

Yesterday all servers seemed to have troubles. At least NEW was experiencing heavy lag and someone reported that same happened on PRTA EUBluedrake42 wrote:Just DDoS'd again. Re: Free Candy Van
Lets see the progress done so far:
- Autobalance - Script in place to turn it on when server restarts. Additionally, all normal-function Administrators have powers to turn on Autobalance (!ab) if need be.
- Map Rotations - By mere luck and consequence of the voting system, we had a near 5-streak insurgency vote by the players. A server crash prompted us to proceed to Fallujah West afterwards. Administrators will be notified to avoid 'safe maps', as Daxt2 listed to us from now on.
- Mapvote Bug - This issue has been fixed by turning off certain "features" of the original Battlefield 2 voting system. This was an oversight during the initial installation, but is now permanently removed.
- Anti-Early Squad - Countermeasure provided by RealityAdminExtended is now fully utilized after testing and troubleshooting to ensure stability. By its description, it will now automatically disband squads made before 2:00. This will ensure squad-bugs will be at an absolute minimum in FCV.

Unfortunately, we have been suffering DDoS attacks lately from an unknown source.
We've been crashing more to DDoS attacks than from actual server crashes.

Re: Free Candy Van
Got on for a round tonight and it was a good experience. Admins were friendly and took care of issues. I asked to be switched to play with my clan and it took all of 3 seconds for an admin to take care of it. Good team work in the round I was in.
Something something build a fob.
