Well, we were moaning about it in chat that there's no BR (Ia Drang), on the next map (Marlin), it crashed :)

Just wanted to join the server, and I guess it just crashed again. So sad :(

While those birds might be correct, it cannot replace BR as BR can be used as after-action, while that software you speak of is according to those birds only usable in a live format. It will not be in anywhere useful to capture cheaters. BR is still the way to go for that. Same for ban appeals, reports, ...

Also, given BR just logs things happening on server can't see how it can increase server crashes, it doesn't really 'write' to the server. But I'm no expert on that. But a lot of these 'trying to run server as stable as possible' seem to be ran on 'feelings' of the server being more stable. With no measurable stats. Any chance you guys can track the amount of crashes you getting? Then we could possibly compare that to servers running BR for example.

But it's good that you are trying as hard as you can to keep server stable. Although running a server without BR is a tricky situation as Nate says.

I mean maybe, we're running a skeleton crew here... so we don't really like making changes to something we know works. If it ain't broke you know.

I'll talk to Core and Surface about it... but I don't think they'll tell me anything different. Remember we're running off a VPS here, not a full blown dedi... so our server capabilities are a tad compromised.

I am hoping that FCV is able to find a balance between maintaining a fun gaming environment and enforcing the rules. Lately, certain admins have proven to be ineffective in maintaining high-quality gameplay due to trolls/griefers not being handled correctly. If a player uses !r to report an issue with a player, especially multiple times from multiple players - that player in question needs to be removed, not warned 2-3 times. Too many trolls going unpunished for disruptive behavior on FCV imo.

Had some very decent games the last couple of days, quite impressed with team-coordination.

However, it'd be cool if admins would make some efforts against briefing time local spam as well as non-mumble Squadleaders (cf. your rules 1.1 / 1.2)

The trolls/griefers are something that is out of our hands, and is something that all the server administrators have been having issues with lately. Project Reality's current administration tools are ineffective in terms of permanently banning problematic players, since there are many workarounds to bypass these administrative actions.

We've been working hard to close these loopholes on our end, but there is only so much we can do without help from Project Reality's developers. Luckily 1.3's new patch includes a wide variety of security updates which will allow us to administrate the server much more effectively and firmly.

With that said, I would recommend that you post any reports against problematic players on our forums. Not all our admins are available online at all times, and using the !r command doesn't register any permanent report... all it really does is poke admins that are online, and very few of our admins have permanent ban privileges.

We take permanent bans very seriously, and we don't just pass them out willy-nilly like other servers do. However, posting reports on our forums will give us the opportunity to research your report with the thoroughness it deserves, and if more drastic disciplinary actions are deemed necessary then we will take them.

Thanks, I'm happy to hear that. I'll be sure to pass along the mumble spam feedback to our admins.

The Administrator Guidebook, Server Rules, and Server Log access has been updated in an effort to further simplify and compress down content for administrators and players broad:

Just want to notify everyone that a live feed of all our administrative actions and server information is now available on our website to better help with transparency. Everything is logged and available to the public for reference in reports or investigations.

Transparency is good, but is posting every player's hash and IP really a good idea?

Server CD hash log shouldn't be public IMO.

True I didn't see that, I'll talk to Surface about it.

Edit: Talked to him about it, that section is being removed.

Good evening,

Just about an hour ago I was playing on your sever, on AL Barash, on the British side doing apc. At some point in the game a gentleman named Brady731 decided to kill a squadmates apc with the 50 cal. on a land rover. About 5 minutes later we( my driver and I) met Mr. Brady and asked him why he killed our squad mates apc. He replied something along the lines of, "yeah because I meant it", and said he had killed our squad mates apc. He then proceeded to taunt us. The victims of the TK reported him but nothing was done. This may be the admins did not notice due to other problems with other players concerning behavior or they were involved in game and did not notice, or they intentionally did nothing. I suspect the former, as they were issuing many warnings related to rule breaking and TKs. The admins at the time that were on were as follows, (no clan tags) theKrazyCanuck, forest and 13oBBy. I would greatly appreciate it if you could investigate to improve the server.

Other than that my experience has been relatively smooth but there are occasionally a few idiots that insult people out of blue.

One last thing, I would appreciate it if, mec inf squads MUST have 6 people or over ( maybe even a full eight) to take an APC, I saw a undermanned mec inf squad take and apc and get killed rather quickly.

Hey cuarhee150

I've taken a look into this incident and came up with one definite conclusion,

Due to the volume of reports and the case of accidental Insurgent IED teamkilling occuring that round, the administrators online overlooked the seriousness of this incident.

I talked to TheKrazyCanuck : LINK

Additionally, I have contacted Forrest02 and he mentioned that he has communicated with Brady731 verbally about the issue he had warned prior.

Unfortunately, no server can maintain perfect administration of rules, it seems that this case was a small oversight on our part.

We do apologize for your experience on our server on that round.

If you want more information, you can look at the FCV server logs for that round for yourself: LINK

Regardless, thanks for your feedback!

Been a squad bug on fcv for the last... 6 hours? Maybe invest in some more non-american admins. Simba has been doing a good job solo admining these last couple of nights, but that's not ideal.

Other than that, no complaints outside of server crashes and shitty midwest US ping. (compared to west coast servers)

Lack of Australian-based Administrators is a problem that FCV constantly faces.

This problem isn't the lack of investing into non-American Administrators, but rather the lack of applicants in general.

Simba was our first Asian-based applicant in 3 months to apply, and to be really honest, would GLADLY invest into Australian, New Zealand, or Japanese Administrators.

We have a demand for them, but there lacks a erious lack supply of non-American Administrators, and unfortunately for the time being, FCV gotta work with what it has in terms of Admins.
