Error when Installing the new PR 1.3 Patch

Post by KombatCheese »

Hey there guys. :-)

So I went ahead and downloaded the 1.3 torrent and when I goto install, it gives me this error:

Clicking "Ignore" goes ahead with the installation but once I start up the PR launcher it gives me another error while trying to validate game files:

Im not sure if anyone else is getting this or If my download messed up, but I hope I can sort it out soon.

Cheers,

Same exact problem here. Running Win 7 64 bit. I uninstalled my old PR and left BF2 installed. I tried running setup as admin, no joy. If anybody gets past this error PLEASE post a workaround here...

I'm having the same problem, except the file is :( x86)\Project Reality\Project Reality BF2\mods\pr\content\object_weapons_client.zip

Tried mounting the file to install, tried running as admin through setup application. I aborted and retired, I also used the retry option with no change. Is there anyway to fix this without downloading the whole torrent again?

OK, fix found. I use Bitdefender for antivirus needs, and it works silently in the background. Thought I had it disabled for the install, and it was not. Disabled it for real and all is well! Hope this helps! Noob fix for a noob problem...

I avoided these issues completely by two things:

1: Pausing AV when mounting/installing from the ISO.

2: Installing to somewhere (anywhere) other than "Program Files" or "Program Files (x86)" (for 64bit users) since these are highly scrutinized directories by Windows. I made my install path just: "D:\Project Reality BF2" and you can too (substitute D: for the drive of your choice, that's just where my SSD is).

Additionally, even though there is a -Partial- DirectX Redist in the ISO's "Dependencies" folder, some people may still need to run the MS DX WebSetup version or the original full Redist, I suspect because there are missing files in the partial Redist that the Web version can grab or that would be available in the official Redist.

That should take care of the three most common problems.

An update for my case:
BitDefender will not allow me to install at all if it is running. Further, it deletes CoreDLL.dll anytime it is allowed to run.
I only have five days left for my BitDefender license. Time for a different AV program!
It is unacceptable to have to kill the AV program to run a game.

Other anti-virus don't have this issue. Only specific ones it seems to have these false-positive issues. We cannot try out every anti-virus in the world though to make sure there are no issues. It's the AV that needs to fix their dedection.
