Unable to rewrite CoreDLL.dll, code 5: accesse denied.

Post by Rich82 »

Hi, I uninstalled PRBF2 v1.2 and am now trying to install 1.3, I was able to successfully mount

and also in another attempt I was able to use 7-zip. The issue began when I ran either setup.exe

or autorun.exe (and then clicked on install), I would get to a point to where it said (I can't

remember exactly, I raged earlier after multiple tries and not being able to post on my 2012

account for some reason.) ~along the lines of~

cannot rewrite C:\Program Files (x86)\Project Reality\ Project Reality BF2\ CoreDLL.dll

^^it was something like that, I also remember it saying something like code 5: access

denied. Has this issue come up with anyone else, and does anyone know of a solution?

Further, that file is necessary because it is needed to play online, when I skipped it, the

PRLauncher's file verification system noted that it was missing and warned me that I

wouldn't be able to play online, and this is true. Please help!

****I am currently trying to reDL the file and seeing if it was just corruption, I am using qBittorrent, PR's recommended software****

Update1: ReDLing it did nothing, I still got C:\Program Files (x86)\ Project Reality\ Project Reality BF2\CoreDLL.dll

An error occurred while trying to rename a file in the destination
directory:
MoveFile failed; code 5
Access is denied.

Click Retry to try again, Ignore to skip this file (not recommended), or Abort to cancel installation.

Update2: I tried using an ISO uploaded to Google Drive and I still get the same error, although I missed something earlier. This error occurs twice; one for CoreDLL.dll and CoreDLL_r.dll

I've been having the exact same issue I replied to another post no matter what I've tried I get the exact same error.

It seems like a few people are getting this error I tried exactly what you did aswell and no success one of the devs said to try it with antivirus software turned off which I did still same problem..and on the exact same file as you aswell

Also I'm using windows 7 so doesn't seem to be anything to do with windows since you're using windows 8 and we have the exact identical problem

What I am going to try to do is use the CoreDLL.dll file from BF2 and put it in PR's directory, maybe that will work

I'm glad to see the issue being talked about so I'll share what I've learned. I use Bitdefender and each time I attempt to install PR 1.3, I notice an issue with code 5 CoreDLL. At the same time I keep getting notifications that Bitdfender has found and removed a virus from my computer.

Here's an example of one of the events I received.

"The file D:\Games\Project Reality\Project Reality BF2\is-UPE2H.tmp has been detected as infected. The virus has been successfully blocked and your PC is now safe...."

another example

"The file D:\Games\Project Reality\Project Reality BF2\is-NNVHU.tmp has been detected as infected. The virus has been successfully blocked and your PC is now safe...."

I must ask, is the .iso file we downloaded really infected or is my anti-virus software just making a mistake. Either way I'ma wait until the devs or someone else responds.

Tried it, still didn't work for me either. Hopefully devs will fix this in a jiffy.

Ya, I checked my Bitdefender earlier but never posted on it, I checked my events log and there are hundreds of files that have an infected Gen:Variants.Barys.2494. warning, I think a DEV really needs to see this.

Bingo - been trying to dig up that Gen:Variants.Barys.2494 thing for a while now... I had the same thing with BitDefender.

Hi there guys. Having the same problem and was nearly pulling my hair out with frustration! I looked up on reddit to see a post mentioning anti virus..

My computer would even make the coredll.dll file disappear when i tried downloading it from my friends filedropper link! Now ive disabled ad aware, zone alarm and malwarebytes it seems to have installed after clicking retry.. Lets hope it launches!...

Image

UPDATE!: Bingo... Project Reality launches but I'm scared to restart or turn back on my anti virus programs... :

Ok so I have figured out how to fix this problem. First off if you are using BitDefender (witch what was making me get the dll error) go into your options and disable everything for BitDefender( antivirus, firewall, Etc) and delete the existing corrupted download that was giving you the error and re download the game and you should have no problem with the install. If you still get the error then you did not disable everything in your BitDefender. This should work if you are using any other Anti Virus program. If not then I don't know what to say. Now about the Files that say they have a virus in them are not viruses so don't worry.

*****************UPDATED 1**********************
So I thought that had fixed the problem With disabling the my Anti Virus software and I did I had no problem connecting to server, until I remembered my Anti Virus program was turned off (BitDefender) so I was quick to turn it back on then out of know where I got the stupid CoreDLL.dll error again :( I then disabled my Anti Virus program again (BitDefender) and tried to see if it would start up again and it wouldn't casue the Anti Virus thought it was a virus or something and took proper action to get rid of it. I guess the only way to play PR is to delete this new download again, disable my Anti Virus (BitDefender) and Re-Download the game. Im guessing this will have to be fixed by the devs. I don't no what else to do if someone finds out how to fix this please share your method.

********************UPDATE 2******************

I will submit a ticket for this false positive on BitDefender to see if this will work. I will respond back as soon as possible.
This will take up to 72 business hours to verify if it is indeed a false positive so be patient.

I suspect there is a bad detection heuristic at play here resulting in a false positive. I'd press on BitDefender to re-evaluate the PR game file, because out of nearly 60 AVs it only trips on 7 of them, and they all share the same heuristic base.

Also, this isn't the first time that BD has false flagged regular code under this condition:

Oh, fin, bud, you failed so hard with that duel post, I'm gonna have to bug you about it forever in TS :D I hope that bitdefender verification process works out well, PR always gives me some game breaking issue. CTD on windows XP/7, unstable connection via wifi in 8.1 and now this :/

Ooooooo and don't even GET ME started on the struggle we both had with, I'm gonna say it, ......Desura...... *shivers*

But no matter I play PR somehow, I can't wait for Squad :D
