Black screen

Hi I was very excited to start project reality since bluedrake42's videos. I installed it and everything. I created my profile and then launched the game. AS soon as i did, it went fullscreen. Then, the screen just stayed black for like 1.5 minutes. I am very confused and really want to start this game. Love the realism. Help would be appreciated.
I Have a Windows 8.1 64 bit laptop with Intel ;3 core 1.9 Ghz processing system
PS: Im not so good at computers, so would love a step to step guide. Thanks!
