Spikes when looking around

Post by GrumpyPilot95 »

Hi, I have a powerful PC and this doesn't happen in any other game. The thing is when I move around the mouse I get some very annoying "spikes" or "jumps" on the screen, instead of a smooth movement. It's not related to fps drops, I get constant 60 fps. Happens at least since PRBF2 1.2. My CPU is overclocked to 4.2GHz, hyperthreading disabled, everything in BIOS. Any ideas? Thanks!

I assume everybody experiences that. Happens when you look in a direction with many players in that direction. Maybe worse with a higher ping.

Negative, I just tested it on 1 player local server and happens too. I have the cores unparked btw. Thanks for replying.

It's mostly due to high CPU-usage (only one CPU-core may be utilized with Refractor 2 engine) and sometimes due to GPU-clocks refusing to use 3D-clocks (mostly high performing modern graphics cards anyway... happens to me everyday; simply run Afterburner or equivalent to check) which may cause lagspikes since 2D-clocks are often much lower (unless specifically chosen to run your application with "maximum performance" in your Nvidia control panel).

Thanks for the explanation. So are you saying there is nothing I can do?

Nvidia Control Panel > Manage 3D Settings > Power Management Mode on maximum performance, either on global or program setting if it is on adaptive.

Have you tried setting the affinity of cpu cores?

Yes, I set core 0 to PRLauncher.exe and from 1-5 to PRBF2.exe with ProcessLasso. That solved the fps drops, but the "spikes" are still there. Thanks for replying.
