Ahoy there. Most of the times, I cant get PR to run at more than 30 fps, in large areas, even thoe my computer runs Battlefield 4 on Ultra with no problem. These are my specs:
Windows 8
AMD FX-6100 Six-Core 3300MHz
GeForce GTX 970
8 GB RAM
Sometimes I even have a huge lag spike, with the FPS dropping below 5.
What can be causing this? Is there any way to fix it ?

Try opening task manager and checking everything resource hungry is shut down.
Try running on lower graphics to see what happens.
Give PR one core all to itself.

The old BF2 Refractor game engine is limited to a single CPU core. It loves fast chips. The only significant gains people see is higher minimum frames per second after overclocking their CPUs. PR runs better on my LGA 1150 4790k quad core at 4.4 GHz compared to my LGA 2011 4930k hexacore at 4.2 GHz.
(Graphics cards are dual 780s in SLI)
TL;DR- if you're comfortable doing it, overclock your CPUs people!
