Error 1324: The selected display mode is not supported

Post by RDoughBoy »

I get this error when ever I try to start the game: Image

The options menu has "Display Mode" written in red with nothing in the drop down menu Image

I installed PR:BF2 1.3 a few days ago and have not been able to play since. I've tried many solutions but with no avail.

I have the Lenovo Y50-70 Touch 4K laptop but I play in 1080p. The monitor is limited to 48Hz. I tried to set PRLauncher.exe, PRBF2.exe, and PRMumble.exe to run with my GTX 860m in Nvidia Control Panel, set my resolution in the Video.con to 1920x1080@48Hz, reset my profile, but it still won't start.

Can anyone shed some light as to what the problem might be?

there are a few threads to suggest some solutions, you can look into those:
https://www.realitymod.com/forum/f27-pr ... orted.html

This one mentions the issue too:
https://www.realitymod.com/forum/f26-pr ... 4-a-3.html

https://www.realitymod.com/forum/f26-pr ... 324-a.html

Try switching refreshrates (you now at 48hz), make new profiles, reinstall game, ...

PRlauncher>Options-Reset ALl Profiles button on bottom. Also do not re-import profiles, retrieve them from the server or make new one.

I'm not dedicated support staff so my knowledge on this stuff is limited :s On this link you can see many more threads with this issue (our website's own search function is broken).

not sure how to run anything on 48Hz, though we can do it on 30 Hz.

You have a 48Hz monitor, but have PR set to run for a 60Hz PC monitor.

go to Documents\ProjectReality\Profiles\0001 and open video.con in notepad.

change the line that says:

VideoSettings.setResolution 1920x1080@60Hz

to

VideoSettings.setResolution 1920x1080@48Hz

save the file.
\\Run PR to test.

I had to search out a solution for this.
Problem: your NVidia drivers were probably installed in a non-UAC or non-Admin state, you might want to completely uninstall and reinstall your dirvers using treexy's driverfusion software.

Solution: add a custom resolution 1920 x 1080 (32 bit) @ 48 Hz in Nvidia Control Center
written tutorial:
Custom Resolutions | NVIDIA
Video tutorial:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HlERjmkBoHg

Next:
Rename documents/ProjectReality to documents/ProjectRealityOLD

Open PRLauncher: ->Options-> you should see your custom resolution now. select it, click APPLY.
shutdown PRlauncher
Open PRLauncher
run PR to test.

I have the same laptop with nvidia GTX960 and I've got 48Hz UHD display and the same problem. When trying to launch PR i have Error 1324...

I don't have advanced settings in nvidia control pannel because of two graphic cards. Intel HD 4600 an GTX960. Can not create custom resolution as you mentioned.

Do you have any idea how to get things working?

How to run BF2 on laptop with the 59 Hz problem for ATI cards
? on: 07-03-2013, 17:03:46 ?
I am such a nerd for posting this, but after a year I finally managed to get FH2 running on my laptop.

Let me set the background for this. My Laptop screen was smashed and replaced by another screen which had a refresh timing of 59,9 Hz. Windows 7 will default this to 59Hz in your screen resolution setting. I could not choose 60Hz in the Windows Screen resolution settings.

Normally no problem, but a few games, like BF2 are hard coded to only accept resolution like 60 hz, 75 Hz etc. You will get a nice black screen and return to desktop if you try to start it. I always played with an external monitor.

You can of course try to fiddle around with the video.com files, but that won't work.

Why I did to fix it is to use a nifty tool called PowerStrip (EnTech Taiwan | Utilities | PowerStrip)

* Go to Option - monitor information.
* Then in the option dropdown you go to Write custom monitor driver
* Choose the proper setting for getting windows to show 60 Hz in the display setting and save it.
* In control panel, change the drivers for you monitor to the new driver you just created.
* It will switch from Generic PnP Display (In my case) to name of your Model ID.
* Restart PC
* Go to screen resolution and change it to 60 Hz
* Play BF2.

Useful tip for people with laptop and built-in screen with timings lower then 60hz.

When I bought my present MSI Laptop it was set to 59Hz so at the time I couldn't play BF2, luckily for me I had bought the machine from a local shop that has a decent technical dept.
I surfed and found some potential fixes in english as the shop is french and took the machine back they did fix the issue permanently, as since i have done a fresh reinstall and update to win7.

So there is a way to fix the CRT hangover issue once and for all, but I don't know what it is.
