Ok, I've included some fashion/costume shots to go along with my CIVI guide.
Now, I'm a bit bummed as I feel the 2/3 reduction in needed Intel Points is an extreme reaction to the CIVI tactics that have become so popular. While the manual states that no intel is gained on a 300m+ kill, the 2/3 reduction is ridiculous. Insurgency is back to what it was before CIVI'es even really came on the scene in 1.0. While the current player makeup is leading to a decent round that is long enough to enjoy, when these players become more seasoned, we will see 30 minute INS rounds as the norm.
Increase the dadgum timer back up to 2 minutes and bring back the 150 IP needed for caches. ARGH!

hehehehehe.... my CIVI squad just went around shoveling dirt like politicians do. We built this neat dirt pile down in M11 of Fallujah. From the east corner of the corner building west to the next row of buildings. Take a look:

4 - 10m walls and 1 -- 5m wall.
Oh and yes, by the way, we finished top squad.
On a second note, I don't remember it in the manual. While it does state that there can be 100 of these dirt piles all over the map, is there a limit within a 200m radius like the razorwire? It's like 9 right?

Ok, we had a blast on Marlin. My whole CIVI squad were digging dirt piles like crazy. While the improvements in some ways have improved the gaming experience, others hurt the majority in a way in my opinion.
One interesting thing about tonight though, we had a French AR dude that martyred 4 of us but didn't die until the 5th one. Now, all my squad said they martyred but one may not have. Will need to keep an eye on this.
All in all, tonight, we executed 5 guys as CIVIES. We were top squad because we built piles of debris/dirt everywhere. Not only were we getting points on our side but the enemy side as well. We almost put them into the negative but only managed to get them down to 15 in team score.

It takes 5 martyrs to execute an enemy. The manual says 4 but it is incorrect.

Well, I thought it couldn't be done with the 2/3 reduction in Intel Points needed for the caches but on GAZA tonight we just won the round!!!

Well back to modifying my guide. It is now back up to 2 minutes. It pretty much makes the CIVI worthless with 50 IP points per cache as no one wants to play that role because you don't get a score for doing it. It really is a thankless "for the good of the team" type of job.

Wow, with the 2/3 reduction in intel I was generally pleased with the 1 minute timer, made playing civi fun again instead of a waiting game.
Now the Insurgent factions are very boring to play as imo, civis are the more worthless than I've ever seen.
I don't know about engine limits, but perhaps a 2 min timer for 2km maps and a 1 min timer for 1km maps?

While the rounds are kind of balancing out, the 2/3 reduction in intel points is killing us. Insurgents still have the mindset that they can just run around and die. Until this mindset is changed, rounds won't last much longer than a hour. Still disagree with the 2/3 reduction.
Now, another tactic I have found fun is building a SPG out in the open in front of enemy or enemy armor. Stand up on the side facing the enemy and dig it. 99% of the time they will martyr you. It is a blast.

Had a fun round myself on Fallujah yesterday, did a similar tactic to what SwampFox mentioned except for it was just a hideout, still usually works.
Although I find it disturbing that an APC driver can just hop out of his vehicle and almost immediately request a breacher kit, we're harassing APCs, there should be a reduction for that.
Reduction of intel is still killing the INS mode, its more of a game of "shoot to kill" instead of "cat and mouse" like its supposed to be.

If a collaborator is shoveling, why doesn't that make them fair game? In this instance they are literally building something to kill bluefor, something that no impartial observer would possibly call anything other than "directly aiding a combatant". But no, PR doesn't do subtle context, so we get the troll class.
To hell with them.
Players might be hardcoded, but that sure doesn't seem to stop anybody from trying.

Tried that, long story short the Bradley was smart and backed up into the DoD, then requested his kit.

No we were in Fallujah and defending the cache. This cache was near the DoD because Fallujah is a small map. The Bradley Driver requested his kit FROM the DoD (Like the very edge by a few inches) and then walked backed into the battlefield to shotgun us.ComradeHX wrote:Engaging from DoD is against the rules.

Is it just me, or is Opfor winning a lot more often in Insurgency now? I can't think of why that might be, since even when Blufor loses they still have enough kills for all caches to become known, and I really doubt roadblocks would have such a big affect on their success. Are Blufor players just really shit, now?

Ok, the building of a FOB, SPG, or roadblock by CIVIes will result in a martyrdom if no friendly guns are around. Trickery and diversionary tactics are part of reality in the military world. So, in my opinion, saying that this is an exploit is going a bit too far.
A few things are finally catching on, the building of roadblocks around a cache is starting to catch on which is causing the enemy to waste time looking for it instead of going straight in. This is a huge benefit to the roadblocks. With the decreased distance to a friendly gun, I've played more around a known cache rather than on another part of the map.
The 2/3 reduction though, in my opinion, is still a major source of frustration. I was ok with the 2/3 reduction with the 1 minute timer for CIVIes but when they increased the timer back up to the 2 minute, it kind of defeats the purpose. Have the PR devs done any statistical analysis of any log file(s) to compile any data that would support the 2/3 reduction or is it just because it felt good?
