RendDX9 crash (PR13)

Post by Pastor_Mora »

- Running PR 1.3 for the first time got that "cleaning up resources" crash
- Run it in windows mode, I got the following error message (image attached)

Debug assertion failed!
Module:RendDX9
File: C:/dice/Projects/BF2Branches/Patch_1_50/Code/BF2/RendDX9/RendDX9Init.cpp
Line: 538
Text: Failed to create d3d device. Unknown cause. Invalid call
Current confile:

- Litoralis told me to install Directx 9c with this link (thank you!)
https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/down...ils.aspx?id=35

- MS DirectX updater says I have everything I need (but I trust Litoralis more than Bill Gates, so)

- Run Windows Update, run installer again, nothing changed :(

- Searched MS Download Center and found DirectX End-User Runtimes (June 2010)
https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/downloa ... px?id=8109

- Installed, tried PR, same issue

- Adjusted everything to Low, tried again, same issue

I'm not a tech savvy, so I'm running out of ideas, any pointers?

The hard truth: Will I be able to run PR on this computer?

If you got this far, thanks for reading. :)

Uh..
Display Memory: 256,00 MB
That's like 1/4th of a gig of VRAM.. I don't think so? I'd wait for the master himself..

Well, the Manual says 128MB minimum, 512MB recommended, but I really don't know if I'm interpreting that right. Thanks anyways :)

Any ideas how to check if I have the latest/required versions of .NET and C++? Thank you

Thx DC_K :)

I've reinstalled/repair install .NET 4.5.2 and C++ 2013
Windows update shows nothing to download
I've increased memory page file size from 4GB to 6GB (just guessing here)

Still doesn't work :(

I have no idea what else to do next...

Get Directx 9c again and don't run Windows Update afterwards.

I had run that web updater about 20 times in the last week. It just says I have all the DX files there are. Still, I've reinstalled the DirectX End-User Runtimes (June 2010)
https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/down...s.aspx?id=8109
and tried again without windows updating, but it doesn't work :(
Also:
Updated to PR 1.3.1.0
Already have C++2013, but repaired-install C++2012update4 just in case (another wild guess of mine)

Same issue, same error message

I'm leaning to believe I have about two options right now
- Grab a torch and burn down my PC, then grab my burning PC and burn down microsoft
- Keep watching Blue's videos and never actually play PR :(

Will I have to reinstall windows or something to fix this issue?

Your PC requires a discrete GPU to run PR.

Thank you Litoralis for your answer (I had to google that to know what you were talking about). So you are saying I have no chance of running PR on this computer as it is. That's too bad. Back to youtube then... :(

Thanks again all of you guys for helping me giving it a try :)
