Fire Fight tips for experienced and new guys.
Hello boys.. Just wanted to start a thread for the veterans and the new guys on tips to survive a firefight longer than twenty seconds. More tips would be greatly appreciated but here's mine.
When on a usual patrol around the flag or assaulting an objective:try to keep the squad chat to a minimum.. I can't even count how many times we got ambushed because of someone spamming the squad chat with useless talk. Example "hey bro look at trans in the sky I think he going to.." BOOM whole squad is wiped out either by a well placed frag or MG.
When the shooting starts take cover and don't run directly into enemy fire...:
When in a light personnel carrier aka hummv always scan the roads for mines or ied's: When it looks safe.. It isnt
Cover your squad members movement: When you KNOW your in a hostile area don't be the guys that all run at once to a move marker because when the shooting starts its like you're "turning on a light to a pack of roaches" everyone scrambles in every direction the squad is separated and by the time the SL try's to get everyone to regroup 9 times out of ten he's the only one still alive..
Yea, this is just my take veterans ESPECIALLY for the new guys. Would love to hear more tips.

Alrighty,
1. Have a mic for everyones sake. If you have a mic, and actually use it... you will have a much more enjoyable time on PR.
2. Communicate with your asset squads if your infantry squad leader (APC, Tank, Air, ect). I can't name how many times I have been a tank squad leader and no squads are talking to me on whereabouts the enemy armor is at. You will win games if you do! *no guarantees
3. Please check your map. I can name a few times where my entire squad has been whipped out because a few teammates opened fire on us, thinking we were enemies.
4. Check your corners. Especially on maps like Muttrah and Fallujah... if you don't check your corners, you will die.
5. Don't use your patches if you got hit by one little bullet. Your medic has a medic bag for a reason. If you are bleeding, don't use a patch, unless your black and white.
6. Suppress the enemy. This on most cases works. Especially if they are behind cover.
7. If your squad leader, notify any other squads in the area that you are being engaged.

Even better: don't drive within 300m of cache.Combat_Sarge wrote: When in a light personnel carrier aka hummv always scan the roads for mines or ied's: When it looks safe.. It isnt
Mines do not disappear in 5min anymore; so now there will be a lot more of them.

Yes. Very yes. It seems to be a natural instinct when your squad comes under fire to just start dashing and feel like you're being proactive about the situation. It's a great way to die tired. Those tense tactical situations are often about patience and conservation of movement, and after enduring countless hectic gunfights you develop a sort of sixth sense for when you should be moving and when its prudent to stay still. Most people also deeply underestimate how difficult it is to detect someone who isn't moving at all versus spotting someone who is sprinting.Combat_Sarge wrote: When the shooting starts take cover and don't run directly into enemy fire...:

Re: Fire Fight tips for experienced and new guys.
I would have to say for a couple of tips;
As basic as it sounds many players don't do it, but when moving, if you stick to cover in the first place there will be no panic to find cover when you find yourself in a firefight.
Also as tempting as it is to have a look at whatever the squad leader may be looking at (i.e enemy positions and such) don't. Unless it is necessary, you will usually just be revealing your position to the enemy. I've seen it when a squad leader is neatly tucked just around a street corner reporting positions, and a number of squad members run over to the corner, clumsily walk or group around to see it, and end up giving away their own position.
Finally I find it is usually a good idea (if your squad leader hasn't told you already) to check your squad leaders rules of engagement. As some players end up putting themselves and their squad in a shitstorm by opening fire at the first enemy they see.
Hope these are helpful!

1. Spread out.
2. Listen.
3. When receiving accurate fire, move immediately.
4. Listen.
Seriously, listen for footsteps.

Re: Fire Fight tips for experienced and new guys.
1. DON'T GIVE UP INSTANTLY. Like seriously, if there is the slight chance of a revive you should wait for a medic. Believe me, most of the time you're even faster at the action again and you saved your team a ticket.
2. After engaging an enemy change your position. This counts in urban fights but especially in woodland scenarios. If you move after you killed an enemy, they usually can not get the MG aiming at your spot or throwing grenades at you quickly enough.Always keep in mind that the enemy squad is communicating as well. If you kill their medic from well hidden expect their LMG to simply spray a couple of rounds in that bush. Same goes for windows, buildings, trees. But there is always a short time of disorientation if someone gets killed, use this for your advantage!
This is also the problem most sniper players have. Yes, sure the crane on muttrahs construction site gives you a great overview. But if you can see everything, everybody can see you and if I write "sniper at crane" in chat, everybody knows where you are.
So always move after you've fired a couple of shots if you want to stay alive.
Position is key, position movement even more!

It's good to end a firefight, especially when you are alone or enemy have a better advantage such as marksman vs rifleman, iron sight vs scope.
Never lay down, because the only thing they can shoot is your head.

If you dropped your kit(or died), the mine disappears with the kit you dropped it with unless you recover the kit.
Did you even play v1.3?

Re: Fire Fight tips for experienced and new guys.
I am starting to notice how squad leaders want their squad members to follow their every move and if your not right behind them they get frustrated. I can even admit to that, but I have come to notice the error in my ways... sometimes let your squad members do their thing as they may not be right behind you but their checking that corner that's to your kind side you probably did not even notice. But make sure they know what there doing and where they are going. That should up the squads awareness as a whole and increase the time you stay alive should a firefight break out. Great tips guys keep them coming

Re: Fire Fight tips for experienced and new guys.
Stick to cover. Stick to the ground. On maps with a lot of cover such as forest form a line with some distance between the players, so one enemy soldier is not in cover from several players because they all have the same angle on him more or less and by inversion 1 2 players cant mow down your squad because all of you guys are in his sights. If possible try to execute a flanking maneuver. The squadleader should take care of it with 2 to 3 players.

Firing without maneuver is indecisive,
Maneuver without fire is FATAL.

Re: Fire Fight tips for experienced and new guys.
My tips:
1 - Fire, a lot of fire. The more bullets you send down range with your squad the bigger the chance of hitting them and high violence of action can be quite demoralizing even in Project Reality.
2 - Local mumble, often you hear people calling out in squad chat while local chat can be more beneficial. Use it.
3 - Run. If you can't win it initially, run, hide and ambush.

Thanks for being so condescending. But you did say that mines disappear after 5 min, not that they disappear 5 min after your die, that a huge difference. Also as far as i recall its 10 min. but im not to sure about that. Couldnt find anything in the manual, only in old threads.ComradeHX wrote:Yes they did...

But yes mines disappear X min AFTER you die.
