Commander Questions

Post by imhooks »

When playing commander some things bug out for me.

1- When hoping in the UAV the camera is bugged out 9 out of 10 times and it requires me to keep switching UAV position on the map, or rapidly getting in an out of it to kick it back in gear so to speak. Is this normal? Does it happen for anyone else?

2- When trying to spot contacts on the map while in UAV using Q where it gives you a question mark to mark intel. It rarely ever works for me. Some maps seem to work better than others. Again, is this normal or has anyone experienced this?

1) it takes time for the UAVo travel to position. The camera will be bugged until then, and you knows it's ready when you see the prompt "UAV in position" on the left half of your screen.

2) that's the only way to spot from UAV, there is not automatic spotting in PR, so it's best to spot using the question mark first to know where it is on the map, then place a commander marker on the map where that question mark appeared with the appropriate symbol.

Hope that helps!

1- Ok, I will be patient with the UAV.

2- I am aware that's the only way to spot. The Question mark doesn't place 90% of the time, so it's frustrating getting a bearing on the uav and landmarks to accurately spot. I just wasn't sure if it was just me who can't get the question mark to show.

Edit: I just watched one of Guru 951's commander videos and he too was having problems spotting with the question mark. So maybe it's a problem for everyone.

Thanks for the help.

Use the question marks to triangulate what you want to spot, particularly in regards to recognizable landmarks.
Players might be hardcoded, but that sure doesn't seem to stop anybody from trying.

Ok, maybe I wasn't so clear. Thought I was.

I CAN'T get a question mark. I furiously press Q+left click and the (?) doesn't show to allow me to place an accurate intel mark.

Good Afternoon,

The best thing to do is to learn your maps. I know it's tough at times but there are places on maps I know by heart as well as the well traveled paths to get to them. When squad leading a Transport squad, I rarely place markers and fly totally by the map. I find that if I do this and learn the map, it reduces my stress level and increases my observation level.

It's not you, it's the game. For some reason, 1.3 UAV contact spotting isn't as accurate as it was before.. not sure if it's due to the (new) mechanics of the UAV or part of the "nerf" package..

Use the contact marker as a reference and try to pinpoint it on the map.. knowing the map and using landmarks will help a lot.

Thanks DC. Again, I am rarely ever successful in getting a contact mark. I hold Q and left click and no marker(?) shows up so I can place an accurate mark. Therein lies my gripe. I can do ok with maps like Muttrah and other familiar urban maps, but Bijar Canyons and forest maps are difficult as there are few landmarks to reference.

This is the guy I need to talk to! Mr. Commander Swampfox. Thanks!

I think I just need to do it more. I can honestly say, since v0.4 I cant remember being commander. I was absent from PR between 0.75 and 1.2. So I am a newb commander. I know the maps from ground level well, it's the aerial view that is new to me.

Like I said I will just practice and hone my skills.

Thanks for the help guys.

There's a radius around vehicles/people/deployables that won't allow a QM. I have always assumed this is because the game is trying to actually spot (Enemy Tank Spotted!) but this functionality has been gutted without being replaced.

I often have to "fish" for a spot where I can get a QM, triangulation is rough at best.

Cool. I'll try that too.
