Flying fails.
Ok, so I'm new. So I'm playing coop just to learn the ropes, mainly flying. I am good at flying in bf4, not on here, unless flipping helos and causing a jet to nose dive into the water as flying lol. Seriously though, big props to the pilots on here, I am officially a ground and pounder, lol. Getting ok with my driving, that's a plus right?

Re: Flying fails.
To not flip you have to hold down S and sometimes stabilize it your self.
Don't land in uneven terrain where the helo will be more inclined on one side than the other, and if the terrain is like that everywhere you will have to hover, which takes a bit of practicing to do.
Look around the forums and Youtube for some tutorials on how to land better, hovering etc..

Read the manual.Ace_Wolf wrote:Lol, hell I just want to take off without rolling. I did 'fly' once last night....upside down, my little bird was mowing the field. -.-
Your flipping on takeoff is caused by you neglecting to read the manual, which covers how to properly takeoff on choppers and jets.

Look up for a guide on landing jets on youtube. Its not that hard. As for flying helicopters, thats strictly black magic.

Re: Flying fails.
IF you read the manual... no joke you will have a MUCH more fun time in PR.
But just to help you out, I really do not recommend going into a online server until you nailed down the flying. Plus, getting into a CAS position is very hard in PR, as the same people tend to take them. If you get in CAS squad, you do well, you will make a name for your self.
Well here..
To take off in helicopter you need to wait about a minute in real time. (I do a minute just to be safe). It takes a while for the engine to heat up and be ready. What ever you do, do NOT hold down "W" until the minute is over. Once you start flying, your engine is heated up.
Jets... Gotta wait about 30 seconds to a minute to fully be ready for take off. Use the arrow keys on your keyboard to taxi onto the run way. By the time you do that and are in position, you should be able to take off. Don't hold down "W" until you are fully clear for takeoff on the runway. (Make sure the runway is clear. If anyone is on the runway being a idiot... warn them in chat. If they don't move, make him your wing ornament. )
I just seriously recommend (As everyone else on PR that is a veteran/experienced) to read the manual. IT tell's you everything you need to have a absolute blast in PR. (Won't really take long to read either... probably 5 minutes if your a good reader.)

IF you would just add me on Steam and hit me up, I would have taught you how to fly by now.

Re: Flying fails.
A few things.
1. You mean mowing the field isn't the proper way to fly? ( lol )
2. I will read it in more detail, kind of skimmed through. I wasn't waiting on the warmup at all.
3. I'll add you later tomorrow, promise.
and finally 4. What a great and helpful crowd this is!
.
P.S. I so gotta get a new keyboard, this one is killing my wrist and seriously having a hard time pressing and holding the left ctrl to crouch!

Re: Flying fails.
just move buttons to something more comfortable...and stick with that configuration in all games. i do...i still play with the unreal tournement control scheme from way back in 1999. its the most confortable to me.
e=forwards
d=backwards
w&r= strafe or u could do s&f here*
c=crouch
x=prone
z=reload
f=enter vehicle
v=change site/camera view
caplocks=mumble sqd chat
a=mumble direct chat
every game i play i change the controls to these. that way i dont have to learn a different control scheme for each game i play.
so find a control scheme that works for you....that is comfortable and stick with it. and make tweaks when needed.

One other point: Different helicopters have different warm up times. Attack helicopters usually take the longest to warm up but certain transports like the Mi-8/17 and Hueys have relatively short warm up times.

ESDF is actually very popular in the competitive FPS scene, but that's really off topic haha.
Ace_Wolf and I have added each other on Steam and I hope to show him the ropes soon.

Re: Flying fails.
The control scheme is fine for me...just the crouch is just in a weird spot imo...I have small hands, so kind of a reach lol.
