Sbeneh Outskirts - INS

Post by Nightingale »

Disclaimer: This post is about only the INS mode. I think AAS mode is balanced on this map.

In v1.2, I felt like Sbeneh INS was a decently balanced map. IMO, it was still slightly biased toward the Rebels, because of the gratuitous amount of dense urban areas and foliage suited to preparing ambushes. When I played it as OpFor (90% of the time, as I am a OpForWhore), I did not feel that any kind of buff was needed for the Rebel faction.

Now, in v1.3, it's way too easy to win as Rebels on this map (in INS mode). In v1.3, you no longer need a crate to establish a hideout. It is incredibly easy for a 3-man squad to surround all the caches with well-placed hideouts and simply have the team overwhelm the enemy in numbers. It is also nighttime now, which gives an additional advantage to units in a defensive position (most often the Rebels, as they have to defend their cache).

I have never seen the Rebels attempt to build an HJ-8 TOW, as it requires 2 crates, and we have never actually needed to use one. So I can't comment on whether or not it is an overpowered ability.

I have never seen MEC win on Sbeneh INS in v1.3. Admittedly I have only played it 5 times (all on OpFor side), but I just don't see how the MEC are supposed to win before they lose all their tickets.

I like the changes made to the FSA in v1.3 (no crates for Hideout, and ability to build TOWs), but I think some other kind of changes are needed to make it more possible for MEC to win on this map. Maybe take away a few tanks for the Rebels or give the MEC some kind of buff, I dunno.

No, you are correct, from what I saw on our stats its true. I would like to see large played a bit more to see if the extra assets help mec out, also sbeneh will be getting another update in the next patch, which I hope should help a few issues out.

The extra assets make the round finish faster by dying easily(because none of them have FLIR and they are all weak).

Nightmaps have been ruined in general (Vietnam ones included) because of removal of muzzle flash.
Especially INS.
IRL vehicles can and most likely have NV or at least headlights/searchlights.

I love playing as FSA on INS.

HAT/LAT/Bomb cars/TOW combination sure gives MEC armor a headache :) Last time I played Sbeneh Ins, i drove around with HAT kit and killed 3x BMP1 and one (or two) T-72. It is incredibly easy to sneak behind armor and take easy shot.

The map is a lot of fun and I am an insurgent whore, always have been. Like the unconventional forces and their weapons. The map does need to be balanced out better though, it's too easy as opfor.

Bring back muzzle flashes. I have lots of experience with firearms and they produce quite the fireworks shows in low light conditions. Especially short barreled rifles like AK's.

As I said sbeneh is getting another update. Also muzzle flashes were removed as they were causing crashes, hopefully later down the road they will be added back in.

All MEC really needs is vehicles with thermals :P

They have the t72, also one of the reason I changed the bmp2 to a bmp1 is that is what you will see the saf rolling with in the map, so this is just a test on what those assets will be. (saf do not have thermals)

I think it's time to revisit nvg, but only give it to vehicles, of course.

I'm fairly sure soviet vehicles had places to plug in pnv-57.

Last few threads I found were from many years ago when it was stated that nvg is still possible but not priority due to night map not being popular.

Yeah, iirc they have NV floodlights on their vehicles, but no thermals.

I personally feel bad for BMP-1 users. The cannon simply has too low ROF to be efficient against FSA guys :D .. For me, bmp-1 is always a sitting duck and easy kills. You don't even "fear" it the same way you are afraid of bmp-2 b/c of autocannon.

MEC could use their bmp-2. Of course, just my opinion. Some might see bmp-1 good for MEC. 1x bmp-1 and 1x bmp-2 would be fine.

Well like I said, its a test of what saf will have in the map, they will not have any bmp-2's.

SAF.

Also, notice that on the loading screen of your map, on some layers, the fsa flag has the wrong number of red stars, it should be 3, but on the part where the assets are displayed it has a flag with 2 stars. Syrian Arab Republic has 2 green stars. While Iraq during Saddam had 3 green stars on flag.

Please fix the HAT kits spawning in main every 2 mins or so. I remember seeing a whole FSA squad have HAT kits the other day :(

Sbeneh Outskirts with new dark layout...
Did not found very good ... it's too hard to identify enemies with that type of lighting,

It's running less times than before, shame it's a great map : P
