Project Reality in one word
Recently a discussion came up and I actually put thought into this. Ask yourself if you were to tell a friend about PR trying to convince him/her to play, what word would it be? What do you think in one work best describes PR as a whole or its best element. Post what yours is, and why you picked it, any obviously nondescript or griefing posts will be moderated.
Teamwork.
Its not even in the name, but its why most of us play and enjoy the game so much. All of my best memories involve other, not "omg that kill!" or "first in the team" but brutal battles that put your squad and team through the ringer and make it a really tough fight that only coordination will beat.

AfSoccer "I just don't see the natural talent."

sync
that feel when stuff goes together like jigsaw puzzle. For instance: Mechanized infantry moves to a flag, clears out the flag, then other inf squad moves in, builds FOB and defense. Mech inf continues aggressively with CAS / heavy armor assistance. Logistics keep rolling to support the flag that was captured etc.

Forever.
No matter what big title comes out, year after year after year, I play PR. It's a game that is always progressing and moving forward, with a community doing the same. I have been on PR for over 5 years and it doesn't get old, or get boring, it's replay value is high since every game is a new experience.

Protracted.
Players might be hardcoded, but that sure doesn't seem to stop anybody from trying.
The only winning move is not to play. Insurgency, that is.

Re: Project Reality in one word
Intense
Of course, there are plenty of low-pace moments in the game, walking 7 minutes through the woods towards the next objective, joking with the others in local channel, taking a sip of your beer ... and then suddenly out of nowhere hell breaks loose. Bullets impact left and right as you jump for cover, hear your squadmates shout directions of their respective contacts and return fire.
You peak out and see an enemy and put off some rounds in his direction, hitting him as he dives for cover. You see another enemy but before you can engage him you are forced to cover by a burst that almost cuts your head off. You took a hit and have to treat the bleeding with the field dressing, hoping the enemy doesn't charge your position now that you're defenseless for a while. Multiple grenades go off in the vicinity. Squadlead orders are to break contact and regroup, so you put in a fresh magazine, pop out of cover and shoot in the general direction of the enemy before making a run for it, still bleeding. A grenade explodes behind you, more bullets come your direction as you and a squadmate try to break line of sight and hope you inflicted enough damage and casualties to stop the enemy from pursuing.
You finally regroup with your squad, the medic treating pretty much all of you except for the 2 guys who had to respawn at the rally. New orders come in. Back to walking, joking and drinking beer.
(Completely made up, but happens just like this all the time in this game. The drastic change of pace makes the firefights even more intense than they already are)

Word on this. PR's tension comes from the contrast of slow and fast paced parts!

Sorry but it's...
Squad - because they're great, talk a lot, silent, great LAT guy, shit medic, OK SL....
Teamwork happens every now and again but your squad, for good and bad is always there.
