Re: =HOG= (North America)
Will there be a revision of the no locked infantry squads rule?
Having a locked 7-man squad for transportation purposes is way better than having an open 8-man squad with 1 or 2 guys always trying to get back to the squad only to give up to do their own thing. Because let's face it, the helo trans squad has to be fairly good to help keep your squad together.
That and not being able to have an APC in a Mech Inf squad has led me to playing more on PRTA since 1.3

Re: =HOG= (North America)
I have made a MECH INF squad on HOG iirc it was last week... APC squad let me use one (7.62 "shitbox") and the admins didn't have a issue. (IT didn't get killed though, so maybe that is why they didn't have a issue).DesmoLocke wrote: That and not being able to have an APC in a Mech Inf squad has led me to playing more on PRTA since 1.3
If your thinking of making one... you should ask the APC squad on what one to take. I wouldn't take a BMP3 unless APC squad said it was fine. (or admins on that matter). Me, I am not known of any rules about a mech INF squad... but I have seen mech-inf squads before on hog.

Re: =HOG= (North America)
they are allowed if it is as matty said, just ask the apc squad, the admins will not have problems with it. If they say something, tell them you got permission to use it. simple.
i dont understand the thing about inf squads. they arent allowed to be locked because game limitations prevent some players from being able to join any squad as only 9 squads can be created and if squads are locking with few players, we run out of squads.

Re: =HOG= (North America)
Good Afternoon,
I understand what matty is saying. Let's look at the math. Take away three slots for the average set of asset squads. Now I'm talking average and I understand that you could set this to four average asset squads. Ok, now let's set some averages for these asset squads:
TRANS - 2 people
CAS - 3 people
TANKS - 4 people
APC - 4 people
This equates to 13 people. 50-13= 37
Three average asset squad = 37 / 6 = 6.16 people per squad.
Four average asset squad = 37 / 5 - 7.4 people per squad.
Now, your takeaway from the above information may be that there should be no locked infantry squads but on the flipside, considering the game mechanics matty mentions, I don't think it's too far out of line to lock infantry squads at 6 or 7. Completely understand that it is HOG's server and HOG sets the rules but is there any room for compromise here?

Re: =HOG= (North America)
Good Evening,
Just got done with Al Basrah about 20 minutes ago. I have issues with players on Insurgency side that do not want to play it because they loudly proclaim that it is broken. Some of these players included LAG Chuck Norris, yessno, and bluefish among others. While most of the time, I'm ok with a few folks messing around in main, I do know of times where admins kick players for messing around in main and not playing. Well, Chuck and another squad leader was promoting the idea of just running around shooting the enemy with absolutely no care about the caches. They also promoted the idea in team chat to just let them have the caches so the round would be over. While to some, this might not be viewed as disruptive gameplay, I strongly feel that it is.
I mean, really, regardless of whether it is broken and me being a CIVI whore, it's fun to play Insurgency. Outside of reporting players like this for disrupting gameplay, is there any other option that can show a spotlight on these types of incidents?

i 100 percent agree there should never be an "apc" squad and that the infantry use them as they are supposed to be used, however, we cant all have what we want.
also, not everyone realizes how to use those properly, meaning, they think that its there to protect infantry and forget infantry needs to protect it as well among other things.

Then follow PRTA's Mech INF template.

Why would they? They could create one based on the admins opinion or even the players opinions.Talon2342 wrote:Then follow PRTA's Mech INF template.
If anyone wants a BMP 3 and their MECH INF squads... why bother running a mech inf squad. those are way to valuable assets and majority of the time the average squad leader would lose it. A "shitbox" is more than enough. They are perfect for what infantry does. For example on Khamisyah. If I was running a APC squad... should a mech infantry squad have priority over ME and MY APC squad? No. They should not. IIRC the only APC's on Khami are Bradleys. (US army version) so I were to only give a Mech Infantry squad 1 bradley and that is it. If they lose it, cry me a river.
If I was on the MEC side... they get BMP 2 (iirc) and shitboxes/7.62 APC. Should the infantry squad have priority over me to have the BMP 2 with more firepower over a APC that is directed against light vehicles and infantry? No. Infantry squads should only take the 7.62 rather than a high firepower one. Unless on USMC or US Army, where the squads could take a Bradley or a AAV. If there is no APC squad, then the infantry squad should be able to take what ever they want.
IMO for a Rule on MECH infantry.... it should be:
If there is a an APC squad, it's the APC squads choice on what to give the INF Squad.
If there is NO APC squad, the Infantry Squad choice is what ever they want. They may ONLY take one APC, and if they lose it... they cannot take another one.
If an APC squad is created when a MECH INF squad has a APC in their hands and are not in main base DOD. (If they took one before a APC squad was made). The INF squad is able to operate the APC until it gets destroyed. Then after they lose it, it's the APC squad's choice to tell them what APC to take. IF there are none left, well... they can wait for the APC squads instructions.
Even if the APC the mech inf squad took is at main repairing, the APC squad cannot do anything about it. It's the MECH INF apc until they destroy it/gets destroyed.
Sorry for creating a discussion Admins/Super. Just stating my 2 cents. As well as sorry for the wall of text above lol.

We played on your server yesterday and had to witness this.

I reported SQ9 for racism, but unfortunaly no admin dealt with this the whole round, though admins were online and even on our side...
