I believe the Panther has the same armor as an up-armoured Humvee, and that can sometimes survive a RPG-7/26 hit.

BTR-60s have survived LAT hits before, and BRDMs are very old APCs I highly doubt can survive any post-WWII hit from a rocket.

Perhaps you hit it with splash damage, sometimes its difficult to confuse the two, make sure your LAT gunner in your squad is very competent with that weapon. That is one of my priorities when assigning kits when I'm SL.
CrazyHotMilf: can you release PR 1.0 today cause its my birthday and i want to play it ? because its gonna be very nice and every thing

Panther and HMMWV up armored have too much armor, especially against 14.5mm and up. It's just a HMMWV with some additional armour, not an APC

It's complete bullshit.

Panther CLV is just like Up-armoured humvee, only protected against small arms and maybe light IEDs.

It's a bit more than some armor. From Wikipedia in regards to the HMMWV:

Code: Select all

Frag Kit 6 is a vehicular armor upgrade kit developed by the U.S. Army Research Laboratory to defeat explosively formed projectiles (EFP), a type of improvised explosive device (IED). It is designed to be added on armored vehicles such as the MRAP and unarmored Humvee. Like the Chobham armor, the exact materials and the way it works is Classified information.

Frag Kit 6 adds about 1,000 lb (450 kg) of extra weight (100 lb per sq ft) and 12 inches (300 mm) of width on each side of the vehicle (2 feet overall) over the previous Frag Kit 5 Humvee armor. The doors are so heavy, troops may need a mechanical assist device to open and close them and so wide drivers may require built-in visual references so they'll know if they can fit the vehicle in narrow spaces. Frag Kit 6 armor also makes MRAP vehicles too wide to legally operate on U.S. highways.

Frag kit 6 technology is integrated into MRAP II vehicles. The purpose behind the MRAP II competition was to field vehicles that don't need the kit added on. Frag kit 6 looks similar to the armored plates used on the British "Mastiff" version of the Force Protection Cougar.[1] It appears to be used extensively on Navistar's MaxxPro Plus vehicle.[2]
As for the Panther:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/STANAG_4569

It pays to have armor not originally built in 196*

Well, it has NATO AEP-55 STANAG 4569 (wikipedia) level 1-4 armor. Level 4 armor can actually take 14.5mm AP rounds. Or artillery shell blast at 30 meter close.
14.5?114mm AP / B32 at 200 meters with 911 m/s
Meanwhile Brdm-2 thickest armor is only 14mm front plate. Soviet logic to put shit armor together with big guns.

Frag 6 "undesirable" and are mostly just big armoured doors.
It does not look like anything that would stop a RPG or high calibre mg round from going through the front or rear, or most of the sides.

Panther: http://www.army-technology.com/features ... s-4273387/

"Level 3[edit]
Kinetic Energy[edit]
7.62?51mm AP (WC core) at 30 meters with 930 m/s[1]

Grenade and Mine Blast Threat[edit]
8 kg (explosive mass) Blast AT Mine:
3a ? Mine Explosion pressure activated under any wheel or track location.
3b ? Mine Explosion under center"

Still only protection against 7.62x51.

BRDM-2 also protects against just about anything under 12.7mm. (because it's angled)
And it's amphibious.

196* armour + 196* RPG still works.

Panther only has lv3.

Big guns + shit(in reality works fine as it's not supposed to tank AT weapons or weapons that are not man-portable) armor isn't Soviet logic; it happens all the time. (remember Leopard 1? AMX-10RC?)

By looks PR has the frag 6 minus the boxes on the doors. As for armored protection isn't there an armored wall behind the rear seats? The doors are also steel as opposed to OG hmmvs

The only "wall" I see is:
"FRAG 2
FRAG 2 kits provide armor protection inside the front wheelwells on the walls of the passenger compartment."

I guess everyone here are suddenly experts on armored warfare solely based off articles pulled off the internet...

It's way more complex than that

Still waiting on an "expert" to bring us classified armour composition information.

Up Armored HMMVS have frag kit 7 installed mostly not 6.

Army Rushes FRAG 7 to the Field | Article | The United States Army

Not much info about its effectiveness but somebody does vaguely, operative word here, mention it is effective against 50 cal here.

Wounded Warrior kicks off new Armor for HMMWV at AM General?s FRAG 7 packaging facility | Company Information | AM General LLC - Mobility solutions for the 21st Century

"FRAG 7 introduces the ARDEC developed and Army Depot produced Overhead Cover (OHC), which provides the capability for the gunner to view the battlefield without compromising safety. Fitted with transparent armored glass, the OHC provides protection from the sun, while still allowing the gunner to maintain situational awareness. A removable roof appliquAfA is also included to shield occupants from overhead threats, as well as new Load Range "E" tire and wheel assemblies that will provide increased reliability and durability compared to the current tire and wheel assembly. The BAE developed Vehicle Emergency Egress (VEE) window will also be included. It provides additional egress options through the driver and passenger side windows. The new armor suspension kit (ASK) will also be provided, this new suspension will increase durability and compensates for the additional weight placed on the vehicle. "

I don't see any RPG protection mentioned anywhere and nothing that tells me anything other than possobility of bouncing 50cal, which means nothing.

But it does. Since PR isn't Arma 2 or 3 the only way of simulating armor is by having hitpoints, or by having rounds be nulled, like tanks aren't damaged by 7.62.

It still means nothing.

A 50cal shot can hit at 89 degrees and bounce off window.

PR, or at least fh2, can simulate damage to highly angled armour.

this Panther and uparmored Humwee are ridiculous: cost as usual jeep, one have thermal and extra zoom when second can sirvive heavy LAT on engine, Panther silent as vacuum cleaner, Humwee with GMG can easily kill infantry squad after eating a LAT, they moves fastly and carry infantry, that's both the butthurt trucks

Don't know where you guys are aiming but my Humvees always get set on fire after the first LAT hit and explode shortly after.

Well, we got like 27 kills today with Panther in no time. We weren't even tryharding, just rolling. It's easy kills if you even try  A few days ago one player got like +50 kills with CROWS HMMWV in Kashan.

Up-armored HMMWV is just OP too. Has like BRDM-2 (or better) armor and them smoke launchers. Once (might have been version 1.0 or pre 1.0 though) I survived a landmine with CROWS HMMWV in Karbala.
