Militia's alternate militant (rifleman) kit
With the 1.3 release, the alternative rifleman kit for the Militia faction was changed from AK-74 to the newly made AKMS.
Due to this change, Militia's rifleman kit now uses 2 rifles whose performance is virtually identical: primary is AKS-47, alternative is AKMS. Both shoot the 7.62x39mm cartridge, while before this change the player could chose between an AK in 5.45x39 (less recoil, 8 spare magazines) or the aforementioned AKS-47 that's chambered in 7.62x39 (more recoil, slightly higher damage, 6 spare magazines).
As of currently, there's no real practical difference between the two kits for the exception of the models used. With the conventional forces you usually get a different optic (magnified vs non-magnified), which often times translates into having a noticeable difference between the two kits. Not the case with the Militia faction, which by design doesn't not have an unlimited kit with magnified optics, thus other means have to be employed to spice things up.
To avert this, why not remove the AKS-47 from the rifleman kit and replace it with the AK-74? Now you have an AK-74 and an AKMS, two firearms that have different characteristics - both in terms of performance, as well as looks.

Inb4 dev lock thread for being suggestion yet thread never shows up in suggestion forum.
While we are at it: Taliban needs AKM/AKMS instead of AK-"47."
Going by photos widely available of Taliban fighters, it's pretty obvious they use a lot more stamped receiver AK(AKMS...etc.) than machined receiver AK("47"...etc.).
Also, IIRC AK-74 has less bullet drop(starts at 200m instead of 7.62x39's 100m) too, for slightly better long range.

Just an interesting side-note;ComradeHX wrote:

Stamped receivers were a standard from the early 50's iirc on to now (Soviet and Russian AK's).
AK's with milled receivers were never exported and many countries produced stamped AK's.
Every AK-47 the Taliban and other guerillia armies have (in real live), are stamped receivers.
On-topic:
Yes, it would be very usefull to be able to choose from the 47 and the 74.

You can't say every AK(not "47") the Taliban and others have has stamped receiver.Careless wrote:Just an interesting side-note;

There are pictures of AK with milled receiver (in this case polish) used in Middle East...just not nearly as often as AK with stamped receiver.

Vietnam got plenty of milled receiver AK.

Re: Militia's alternate militant (rifleman) kit
I think perhaps they did this to reduce the availability of 5.45mm weapons for the Militia. Being an unconventional force, wouldn't it be more realistic that the Militia would use AKM and AKMS far more often than an AK-74?
But then again, the Taliban use (AK-47/AK-74) as their STD/ALT so maybe "realistic depiction of weapon scarcity" isn't that high of a priority for the PR factions.

Taliban simply pay more for 5.45 AK.Nightingale wrote:I think perhaps they did this to reduce the availability of 5.45mm weapons for the Militia. Being an unconventional force, wouldn't it be more realistic that the Militia would use AKM and AKMS far more often than an AK-74?

Militia is more like Chechens; they should have plenty of 5.45 AK.

Never got that trade offer[R-CON]camo wrote:The alt militia rifleman will have the ak74 (std will have akm)
The akm will replace many ak47's in many factions too.

Arent the militia also supposed to be arms dealers? If that were the case you could conceivably load them up with any rifle that you really want to.

Re: Militia's alternate militant (rifleman) kit
Milled AK 47's were -by that time - produced in the Soviet Union only, and almost non of those AK's made it outside. Nowadays, some manufacturers do make forged receivers .ComradeHX wrote:You can't say every AK(not "47") the Taliban and others have has stamped receiver.

All AKM's, however, are made with sheet metal.

Re: Militia's alternate militant (rifleman) kit
There is a very noticeable difference in recoil between the AK-47 and the AKM. I suspect the latter was put as an alternative kit to give an advantage to the testers who knew that ahead of time!
