[VIDEO] CAS Headtracking in PR!

Post by SCO.Vex »

So, I figured out how to enable headtracking in PR! This makes it a LOT easier to track targets if you're CAS and also gives you better situational awareness if you're flying. The best part of it is that it completely separates your head camera and mouse. The only way to look around a cockpit before was to hold a key and look around with your mouse, but you wouldn't be able to control your aircraft at the same time.

READ BEFORE WATCHING THE VIDEO:
I know this isn't the proper way to fly a jet into battle, but it was done for 2 reasons.

1. I wanted to get some footage of a little dogfight.
2. This is in COOP against bots and bots REFUSE to fly higher than 200 meters.

Also, my headtracking settings have not been fine tuned, so the video does get a little shaky at times.

If you guys are interested in this and want to learn how to do it yourselves, let me know and I'll make a tutorial for it!

Nice work! :)

I remember someone else uploaded something very similar, I think using his webcam

I didn't implement it due to time and IIRC punkbuster doesn't like it on multiplayer servers

I'll give it another shot if you can upload a tutorial or explain here :)

I actually used to use this all the time in 1.2 without any problems with PB! I'll see if any more people are interested in it before I write it all up. :)

I would be very interested to know how, this would be incredibly cool to have.
Players might be hardcoded, but that sure doesn't seem to stop anybody from trying.

The only winning move is not to play. Insurgency, that is.

Here it is: https://www.realitymod.com/forum/f10-pr ... ews-9.html

It's pretty easy to set up, all you need is a webcam.

I got it working but on jabal al burj there is a CAS chopper with rockets mounted on either side of it - when I get into this chopper my freeview no longer works, it works in other helicopters though... Anyone else having this problem? Possible fix?

Gave it a try and it seems to work but has a great delay, any ideas why?

It can depend on a couple of things. Might be your camera or might be the sensitivity.

Try this config: Config.ini
It also has roll turned off because it's quite useless and can make it difficult to look straight.

Hey just so you guys know - this is the setup I am using and have been using for a very long time. I use it in many flight sims and game such as Arma - its a great alternative to the expensive trackIR system.

I got it working for Project Reality - much much better than facetrack

Just so everyone is clear, this will not work with TrackIR 5. It is doable with any lesser TrackIR camera and outdated NaturalPoint software. Even at that, it will be very difficult.
