Transport Helicopter Point Distribution?
So I was flying a Blackhawk on Ramiel AAS and racked up 1800+ points by time I finished the round, finishing in first place. We lost of course, but I was curious how in the world I gained 1,800+ points when I transported about the same amount of troops + supplies as any other game? I was hoping a PR Dev (or someone with knowledge of points) could explain how a transport pilot gains points.

You get points for transporting people, the longer they are in the vehicle you control the more points you get. It's also the reason why tank and APC squads usually rank high. At least that is one of the reasons for high scores.

Re: Transport Helicopter Point Distribution?
So sitting at base with a full helicopter, we afk 10 minutes, I drop them off and get loads of points? Doesn't sound like that'd be right. Is there nothing like "X points for X distance you fly with X members and drop off" or "X people got X ammo from a crate you dropped, so you get X score"?LiamNL wrote:the longer they are in the vehicle you control the more points you get.

I think it would be hard to keep track of the who dropped what crate and who takes what amount from it so I don't think those will be ever be tracked by the server/client. Might have something of distance but I wouldn't know for sure. Also entering and exiting doesn't really have any consequence I believe, but don't trust my word for it because I don't know the game mechanics perfectly.

Re: Transport Helicopter Point Distribution?
These things matters:
- The amount of people in the vehicle
- The amount of (kilo)meters travelled
- Did your passengers shoot anyone with side door guns etc. shot anyone from the vehicle
Also, for two manned armored vehicles, the driver gets extra scores when the gunner kills fobs/inf/vehicles/stuff. Driving around with BRDM-2 with full squad e.g in Silent Eagle can give the driver easy 1000-1200 points (gives actually the whole squad points)
Not completely sure about this: sometimes when you are near APC and they get scores, you get some too - might work another way also. When your passengers hop out and get score from doing a rally point or FOB quick, you might as well get some points, but again not sure about this. I've just seen it happen to me (getting random points when near friendly APC that is engaging enemy inf)

When you and your driver/gunner are in the same APC/Tank from the start of the round, starting with 0 points. Technically the driver should have a higher score in the end of the round. No matter if the gunner has 6000 kills, the driver gets a big part of it plus transport points because you continuously transport one person and sometimes more.

9/10 cases the driver gets more points, however, if the driver is outside the APC (spotting with binocs etc.), he does not get as many points as he would get in driver seat.MikeDude wrote:When you and your driver/gunner are in the same APC/Tank from the start of the round, starting with 0 points. If you don't die in the vehicle and acquire lots of kills, the gunner will always have a bigger score than driver. Most of the time from my own experience gunner has 2-4 times more points than driver at the scoreboard.MikeDude wrote:When you and your driver/gunner are in the same APC/Tank from the start of the round, starting with 0 points. Not always true, I had a round when I was the Challenger MBT driver on Dragon Fly, I think my gunnner went something like 90-0, and I got first place.viirusiiseli wrote:If you don't die in the vehicle and acquire lots of kills, the gunner will always have a bigger score than driver. Although, it probably had something to do with the fact I was the squad leader.

2 man FOB squads squirreling away emplacements and spawn points can easily top the scoreboard every game.
Don't look too much into the way the scoring system works. PR has long had a really funny relationship with it. On the one hand "points don't matter!", on the other it's used as a carrot and a stick as if it should matter.

Players might be hardcoded, but that sure doesn't seem to stop anybody from trying.
The only winning move is not to play. Insurgency, that is.
