The best is to check your map. A lot. When you were in that first house you could easily have seen if there were 3 friendlies in the building across the road or not.
Eventually you'll learn the uniforms by heart.
The kick(s) could have been from an earlier incident. Sometimes admins need a few minutes to investigate if you got reported for teamkilling.

OK thanks, checking map all the time kills immersion for me, its very frustrating. Also I tk once surly new players get some le way? why is there NO pictures of different countries uniforms anywhere.. i have googled I cant find anything even in the wiki.Zrix wrote:The best is to check your map. It is the number 1 reason new players tk. Also no idea if that is friendly or enemy vehicle. I was right to shoot him at the end yes?

Re: Can you help this noob? [Video]
I feel your pain. I've got about seven hours into PR so far with the last two being forced into the SL role. Honestly that made it easier because being occupied directing the squad and working CnC meant that I was only engaging enemies at very close contact, 50 meters or less.
I just wish the maps had a uniform comparison to go along with the briefing while the map loads.
I'm sorry that using the map all the time is breaking the immersion. I do understand the issue but that's pretty much how good SL's and PL's do it in real life too. Lots of talk on the radio with the map in hand.

Re: Can you help this noob? [Video]
You didn't really do anything wrong in this video, not really sure why you got kicked. At 2:37 it was in fact you who got teamkilled by someone else, not the other way round. When you got kicked at the end you did nothing wrong, maybe it was just a bad admin.
As for how to tell the difference i find it just takes time playing the game. This is definitely the most important one.
One of the best ways for me is to look at the shape of the helmet, as you said in the video the IDF have the mitznefet (pancake head), US army and USMC have ACH and LWH respectively i believe and so on and so forth. I also look at the outline of the weapon, it's a bit hard with hamas and IDF both using the m16 but on other maps i find it a lot easier to distinguish between the factions.
Lastly i check the map, a lot, too much in fact. If i ever recorded my gameplay it'd be 40% me bringing up my map and boring as hell to watch but it does mean i generally know where everyone is and rarely have difficulty identifying friend from foe.

Re: Can you help this noob? [Video]
Good Morning,
As stated above, always open and close your map. While I understand it may kill the "immersion" for you, it is the best "game mechanic" to help your situational awareness. If you watch any PR veterans video on Youtube, you will see them constantly opening and closing their map. It becomes second nature.
Regarding uniforms, I always look at the colors. While this doesn't help some, it does help me. For example, before the Russian uniform change in Dovre, I always relied on the backpack and helmet color to distinguish the faction. Russians always have a brighter green, in most cases. Germans always have a darker almost brown color.

Again thanks for the feedback, I guess experience comes in to play a lot. Also find it hard with vehicles as well.
Has nobody ever put a list together of all maps and uniforms to look at?

Haha it was me who killed you on 1:57
anyway , you'll get to learn each faction's uniform with the time , i agree there's few maps that both armies have a very similiar uniform but in Asad's case it's really easy to see the diffrence.
The uniforms are in a very different colour , plus Hamas has blue in the uniform which there's nothing even close to blue in IDF's uniform , they wear different helmets , Hamas uses AK while IDF is using Tavor ( a very short weapon ) .
Another advice is when the round starts go to one of your friendlies and look at his player from close and look for details so you wont get confused.

Hi Para, welcome to Project Reality!
@ 2:35 - I suspect you "bled out" because you were injured and didn't patch up with the field dressing or seek a medic. You didn't TK. You GOT TK'd. Player 1 killed Player 2 is always how the battlefield franchise has written kill notifications. In PR, only TKs are scrolled at the top left corner.
IDF have the very distinct mushroom helmets. Learning enemy uniforms comes with time and practice. Slowly you'll start to notice differences in player models and kit geometries. Take Muttrah City for instance. The MEC and USMC both have shades of tan uniforms. But MEC have black beards and black boots. USMC have tan boots. Another key to identifying enemies is listening for different weapon sounds. For instance on Muttrah, the USMC's M4s and M16s sound very different than the MEC's G3 rifles. With time, you'll get good enough to distinguish the medic's backpack versus a rifleman's backpack.
I do agree that it is a hindrance to bring up the map so often as a new player. The decision to not have a slight zoom on unscoped weapons forces ironsight users to do it quite often. It's always a good idea to bring it up though if it means not teamkilling.
Stick with it. The game is very rewarding imo. It is my go-to for public teamwork in a semi-tactical FPS.

Are you sure you got kicked and didn't simply get disconnected? I mean no one would kick you for teamkilling unless you've really gone full loco and you should have gotten an unmistakeable warning first.

Just to clear things up, you haven't gotten kicked for teamkilling during that match.

For your information, that message you get after being "kicked" is a general message and is not descriptive of what you actually got kicked for, it can be anything from Not joining a squad to not having a mic, or just that you broke the server rules in some sort of way. Could also be a mistake on the admins side.

Re: Can you help this noob? [Video]
For the uniforms if would probably use some time at the start of the round to look at the friendlies and see how they look, then shoot anyone who doesn't look like that. Of course combined with some map usage.
For vehicles is quite easy if you have some experience with military vehicles. Remember that only the enemies can use their trucks and apcs so if you see an american bradley running around, you know its crewed by americans. Although i dont think there is a complete list of which factions who use which vehicles, most factions use what they have in their actual armies. The exception is militia and MEC who both use older russian equipment. Distinguishing between Russian and militia vehicles is a little harder, but the russian forces uses the newest stuff.

Yeah mate, you were right. Remember that your team cannot enter enemy vehicles. With time, eventually you'll learn the different vehicles, their names and you'll even be able to identify them just by their sounds.oO Para Oo wrote:Also no idea if that is friendly or enemy vehicle. Well >> this << would be a good start. It seems the wiki isn't exactly up to date when it comes to actual numbers but the vehicle lists for each faction should cover about everything.Filamu wrote:Although i dont think there is a complete list of which factions who use which vehicles

Re: Can you help this noob? [Video]
In the video around 2:30 those guys you were shooting at probably were enemy, you didn't teamkill anyone, rather you were teamkilled by someone called Caprenko who it seems was close enough for you to hear him on local mumble.
EDIT: Also that guy in the APC was indeed an enemy, no teamkill there either. Perhaps you were kicked for not using your microphone or some other reason that wasn't captured on the video? I see you kinda ran out to the enemy with a medic kit which is not really the best use for such an important piece of equipment.
