Surround gaming support

Post by JuiceMayne »

Hey all,
I recently added 2 more ASUS VG248QE 24 inch monitors to my gaming setup to play in surround at a resolution of 5760x1080p. Loading up PR however, everything is extremely zoomed in. Clicking on servers and menu options has become difficult because all the letters overlap. In game is even worse you can imagine. Anyone know of a fix to back up that FOV in surround gaming? Thanks

First try https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WsKFCjgtDfQ

If that doesn't work try https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PxfFecR9ZFg

The videos were created pre 1.3 so it still has bf2.exe in it. Just ignore everything that deals with the original bf2 executable. The summary of the videos is we trick Widescreen fixer into thinking prbf2.exe is bf2.exe so it changes the fov. The first video makes symbolic links though cmd, and the second video makes hardlinks through a 3rd party program. In my experience, hardlinks work better.

Not working unfortunately. Even after ignoring all of the BF2.exe tips prior to 1.3. I wish someone would post an updated surround gaming fix for version 1.3.

I included the files needed in the description. You may extract it with 7zip. In the video you can see setting the FOV to 3 monitors 16:9 completely breaks the visuals. You're going to have to settle for a lower setting, unfortunately.

Okay I followed your video bit by bit, but for some reason when I run PR, the 'Game Running' status in the Widescreen Fixer stays no. Also what is the purpose of this; MEGAsync link you require as a prerequisite in your video? I don't see how it applies to fixing surround gaming.

It isn't a prerequisite. That's just **** that mega.nz hawks. You can download tools.7z without downloading megasync. There is a button that says download through your browser below the megasync button.

If it isn't working then you're going to have to start over making the hardlink. I'll upload the original prbf2.exe to dropbox in a little bit. You should delete bf2.exe and prbf2.exe from your project reality folder and start with the prbf2.exe from this dropbox download. Also, make sure you installed everything with administrator privilege and make sure you run widescreen fixer with administrator privilege. https://www.dropbox.com/s/gpppporczpm7535/PRBF2.7z?dl=0

Much appreciated. I have games like GTA 5 and Farcry 4 that run great in surround on my Titan X but PR keeps calling me back no matter how old the engine is. I just want the experience to be as immersive as it could be.

Still not working unfortunately...so disappointed. Finally was able to get widescreen fix to recognize my game via that dropbox link you put up, but in game i'm not seeing any changes in the FOV. Menus and options are still bunched up with letters overlapping. Pressing my assigned hotkey doesn't change anything. I did see some differences in the FOV when playing in windowed mode as opposed to fullscreen. But everything was glitched and I could see through hills and landscape was transparent. I appreciate your help though LakeMole. Are you gaming at a 5760x1080 resolution on three screens? I recently downloaded nvidiaInspector and made a few tweaks to my graphic settings. Could this possibly be the culprit?

Yeah, the game engine was never built to handle high fov.

I am not, I am running 1920x1080 on 1 screen. I do not believe nvidia inspector is the culprit because the game breaks visually when I try to run high fov in game and I don't use nvidia inspector.

Now that I think about it, it makes sense that widescreen fixer wouldn't work for menus because menus aren't affected by fov. We probably need a dev to recreate the menus to be compatible with high resolutions.

Yeah Lake i've been fiddling around with widescreen fixer all night and have come to this realization; there's absolutely nothing to be done with the overlapping letters and icons on the menus and maps...we'll just have to bite that bullet. The best aspect ratio at a resolution of 5760x1080 is either '2 x 5:4' or 'Cinema 2.39:1' Those gave me the widest FOV whilst keeping my rifle and vehicles etc in view. It's a shame I couldn't use any of the 3 screen ratios...the FOV was massive for each option. But transparent objects and vehicles are total game breakers.
