Texture quality!

Post by TerribleOne »

Is not the best in bf2. i run the game maxed so its nothign to do with settings. just all around texture quality is not as good as other games of the same age. eg HL2 and mod CSS. everything looks a little blurred (low res textures most likely) and even misaligned on some models. for example look at the back of theheads on the models and youl see an obvious join down the middle- its poor mapping and shouldent be there.

i know this game cannot have the same detail applyed that CSS has but better quality and larger res textures are a must.

Go to your video.con and set the graphics settings to "4". The game menu maxes at "3". See if that helps you any.

Sounds to me like you're using a low quality texture filter in the video options as well. Be sure to set the texture filtering to antisotropic. That will ensure the best quality texturing, and textures should look crisp and clear. If you're having problems with "tearing", or similar effects, then you need to enable v-sync.

i turned them all too 4 and it is antistroptic. i never said it was bad just not as good as other games hence CSS.

oh well tbh i prefer a good game with less perfect texture over a beautiful game with sucky gameplay. and i can only run low settings anyway.

When did I say I didn't enjoy it? Did you dream up stuff again?

If you READ my post you'll see that I said that I am looking forward to operation flashpoint II (2)

Operation flashpoint 1 was sorta fun, but I didn't get to play it until two years back, and it isn't really anything like battlefield, so I don't know how you want to compare. Sure, they both got shooting, but other than that...

about CS: source.... it has cool texture and environments but i think they are pretty cartoony, whereas i think BF2 looks more realistic than that, just the gameplay needs work as ive said before.

Well you can compare to other games, but the BF series still takes it home when it comes to multiplayer. HL2, Doom, RTCW, CS, i think all those mulitplayers just cant even compare to BF's

i think the bf games are more sketchy than cs, which is pretty solid infantry combat.

maybe. but bf2 games are fun to play no matte how unrealistic (as long as they don't lag that is) and textures don't bother me very much.

thing is BF2 is a much larger arena so they missed allot of the detail that css and games alike have.

its unfortunate that bf2 has to be this way. But hopfully a possible extra option to enable all the 'goody' effects for those who can play with it like that will be available in PR.

even small details like no blood when you shoot somone is greatly missed by me.

the fact that css treats your kit as individual objects that are effected by gameplay eg. shoot somone and as they fall if there gun gets hit by bullets then it flys through the air. All the kit can end up anywhere.

BF2 you die... you vanish... your body decides to turn in to a kit bag exactly where you died!

Textures and quality of the game as a whole (laggy menus. lots of bugs) i do not believe are as good as css but i think the gameplay is a step ahead. and thats what matters.
