Hello,
I am trying to install the standalone version of Project Reality.
When I do this, PB gives me the following error: "Failed to copy the file ....\BF2\pbsetup\pbsvc.exe to ...\system32\pbsvc.exe (error 5 acces denied)".
Then, when I try to start PR, I get "30: machine error" and the program immidiately quits.
I would like to fix this, so does anyone have a solution?
Many thanks in advance

Re: PB Error 5 and machine error
Try to completely uninstall the game then re-install. when it asks you to install PB during the installation, skip it and dont download it. PB is not active with this game anymore and it will hopefully stop that error if you dont install it

Re: PB Error 5 and machine error
just make sure to remove the game first and any folders that are left over before you re-install

just dont install punkbuster, it is no longer required for the standalone

Thanks for the reactions.
I installed PR again, but this time without punkbuster.
Unfortunately, I still get the "30: machine error"
Any other fix?

Re: PB Error 5 and machine error
If it can't copy to system32 you're probably not installing as admin.

i'm assuming you have a genuine copy of windows and you're running with full admin on your acc.. if unsure of that, look up on how to make a windows administrator accountRaoulJWZ wrote:Thanks for the reactions.

do you have any firewall or AV? disable them for the time being and whitelist prbf2.exe prlauncher.exe and prmumble.exe
ensure you have the latest direct x
also try this
'[R-DEV wrote:AncientMan;2075200']Hi guys, got a potential fix for you that has worked for another person.
Please open up command prompt as an administrator
Start -> Type "cmd", then right click Command Prompt and go "Run As Administrator"
Then, paste these 4 lines line by line (right click the window title, go edit -> paste)
It should all execute successfully with no errors. After the last line, the Windows Management Instrumentation Tester should open. Just hit exit.Code: Select all
Regsvr32 %SystemRoot%\System32\wbem\wmidcprv.dll cd /d %windir%\system32\wbem for %i in (*.dll) do RegSvr32 -s %i for %i in (*.exe) do %i /RegServer
Then try running PR again. It "should" work just fine.
Let us know how you all go, if it works or didn't work. Thanks![]()
'[R-DEV wrote:AncientMan;2075242']In addition to the above, you can also try the following (same command prompt as an administrator):
Then restart your computer.Code: Select all
net stop winmgmt (note, if this command asks you that additional services will be stopped, press Y and enter for Yes) wmic /NAMESPACE:\\root path "__namespace.name='CimWin32'" delete mofcomp %windir%\system32\wbem\CimWin32.mof net start winmgmt
