Best Server to Get Infantry Combat Sorter

Post by O.Ortega »

I have been playing 1.3 online this afternoon and have been struggling with everything from combat to FOB placement. While players have been patient as a whole (thanks Filamu, Cossack, myapocalypse - his name was something like that) I want to know what server is best (if there is such a thing) for building up my skills from infantry. I have read the manual and played a lot (maybe too much) co-op so I'm wondering what server is best for new guys who want to learn. I saw the Co-op Training server but it was empty. Sadly I missed the training event on it.

Joining any server that is seeding (skirmish) will allow you to train infantry, mostly CQB but is a good way to start.

Regarding AAS, OD-S's server mostly plays 1 and 2 km maps, also good for infantry, but in the end you can always find proper infantry squads in almost every European server.

OD-S was good. I just wondered if there is somewhere I could learn things on a more elementary level. I guess the point is that I don't want to accidentally end up banned from a server because I didn't know that what to do, and OD-S seemed real tolerant. I'll try to stick to skirmish otherwise, so that I truly get to master being a rifleman.

Skirmish is nice, but you need to play more real 50v50. Like join squads that has name like Mumble INF or Teamwork INF. Something along those lines. Also, consider joining a clan, it will be a lot more easier to get going.

Hardly any server kicks newbies, as is, new players interested to learn. As long you use microphone and tell your squad leader you're a new player everything should run smoothly.

Telling your squad leader your new is important to prevent him to assign you tasks or roles without explaining how to use.

Pretty much what UT said, also if you want to start getting into squad leading logistics squad or mortar squad is a good way to start. Usually you will get someone who knows how to work deployables and can help you learn the ins and outs of fobs.

Good Afternoon,

All of the above suggestions are good, I personally think that Insurgency is one of the best ways to learn infantry. This is mostly true on limited asset maps like Fallujah and Al Basrah. Playing either side will help you with your foot soldier skills.

AAS hones your skills more to the infantry defense side of soldiering in my opinion. Both sides have to defend captured objectives.

I like chocolate others like vanilla, some like big butts and cannot lie, and others like Paris Hilton's.

Ortega, mostly server rules are quite easy to understand and if you do something wrong you will be warned first. If you get banned you can always go to the forums and explain yourself. Dont be so scared about that.
As long as you dont feel like placing a C4 on the backside of a nice shiny friendly tank you will be fine.

There arent really some servers better for training than other tbh, just find a good squad leader and play along. A smaller map without the biggest assets are also quite nice, like the maps we usually play on our server. You could also play a little insurgency if you want to check out that game mode, other servers play that a lot so you will easily get a round of that if you play on them.

Drop by our TS if you feel like it ;)

Thanks for the suggestions guys. I'll drop by your server Filamu. I remember that you were real patient with me. Thanks for that.
We can't blame RAWSwampFox for promoting his beloved game mode. I actually do want to play insurgency as an insurgent down the line but apparently fighting as a insurgent is the hardest way to fight - I want some more experience first.

If you want a server with real teamwork enforced, join NEW. I find their community and playerbase to be really friendly and the admins are constantly making sure that everyone is playing for the team. Other than that Merk is pretty good as well as PRTA when there are more admins from different clans online.
