All servers are Clan/Community driven and yes, Keybindings stay the same.

Welcome to PR, im sure you going to have a blast! (or get blasted)

tips, Stay frosty, dont be afraid to talk to your fellow soldiers or Squadleader, try to find a "veteran" and let him teach you the game AFTER you have read the Manual

The Manual is Love, The Manual is Life.

Good Evening,

As stated, the manual is a good place to start so you can understand basic concepts of the game. Please note that there are many guides, tutorials, and videos that provide more in-depth analysis of tactics and gameplay. Some folks say to always read the manual and others say that the videos are good enough. I say, find the right blend of both that works for you. Some folks are visual/audible learners and others are book learners. Yes, I'm a teacher so I know at least a little bit about this when dealing with 100+ students everyday. Also, I'm learning something new everyday on how to blend this. There is never a full stop one shoe fits all in any learning environment.

Fiddle about on coop to learn kits, revives, piloting.
It's a low stress environment with nearly no kit restrictions.

Communicate with a microphone.
Read the manual (takes like 15 min. Really helpful)
Don't take kits without your squad leader permission.
Don't operate heavy assets (like tanks, apcs, heli, jets) until you practice in them. (Hop into local server and coop).
Tell the squad leader you are new. Usually the good leaders will help a bit.

I recommend reading the manual tho first before you hop in a server.

PRO Tips how to not get kicked:

When joined the server - DO NOT spawn in.

Find nice squad and join.
Tell SL you are a new guy.

Always ASK what kit is needed. And if said otherwise, stick to it.

This is important -> SL WILL TELL YOU WHERE TO SPAWN.

Learn basics with Rifleman kit. When you feel confident about, ONLY then start taking other roles.

Everyone is Rifleman first, everything else afterwards.

First of all welcome to PR .
Start with the manual , after you know the basics of the game and how it works go host a private server only for you and just play with the kits and assets , get to know how to use them , after that go to to the regular servers and join INF squads . Good luck

Hi and welcome to PR.

As the others have said, the manual is the place to start. It covers most gameplay mechanics that you just need to at least have heard about before actually playing. Playing on local/coop servers is optional imo but I can't argue with the fact that you can get used to stuff like requesting kits there.

Before you start playing I highly recommend to re-bind the mumble keybinds for squad radio (default: numpad 0) and local (default: H) to additional mousebuttons (thumb buttons) if you have any as it allows for easier comms without letting go of the mouse or movement keys.

When you join a server, it's time to find a squad. Stick to infantry for the beginning, as playing inf will get you an idea about how rounds progress over time and how logistics within the game work. If you click a squadname within the squad menu on the left the respective players will be highlighted in white on the map. Look for squads that stay together and join one that has a free slot. Tell your SL that you're new and wait for him to tell you where to spawn and which kit to take.

The rifleman kit doesn't seem spectacular at first when you see the toys other kits get, but it's a decent kit with grenades, smoke and a shovel so you'll definitely be ready to face combat. It is absolutely recommended to take it as a beginner and whenever no more specialized kit is assigned to you. When you feel comfortable with it, you may start playing other kits after asking your SL.

After a couple of nights of playing PR you will most likely have gained quite some knowledge about the game and how it is played already, and become a solid squadmember that people can rely on. Afterwards there's still plenty of things you can learn, you can always become more proficient with different kits, you can try to squadlead yourself if you're confident enough and of course there's a wide variety of vehicles that want to be operated.

Thank you very much for your help guys I really do appreciate the warm welcome everyone is giving me If there are people who are willing to give me a few lessons message me please :) and also I joint a server yesterday and got onto mumble however I saw very few people on the mumble itself, would that be because they are on a different voice server? Or should it say if they are using mumble TS etc... Again thank you guys very much for the warm welcome

Mumble is integrated with PR. There should be all players that are with you on server.

Mumble is fully integrated and does everything automatically, so don't worry about it. It's something people run in the background to never look at it unless they're running into trouble*.

Since you looked at it though and wondered why there are so few people, if you joined a squad it will move you to a channel with all players of said squad. All the other players on the server will be in different channels.

*The most common case of that is that you're getting the disconnected icon (see: manual) on the bottom right of your screen while playing. To fix it, simply alt+tab out of the game, find the mumble icon in system tray, close mumble and tab back into the game. Mumble will be launched again and you will moved to the correct channel.

@leonshark, go to the support forum, or ask in discord. (Not a common issue as far as I know, so I can't help you here).

I exactly have been looking for a game like this my entire life and its like it was meant to be. I found it right when it became standalone free.

Read the manual for functions. Look up on YouTube the Squad v19 and Project Reality 1.6 Teamwork playlist for skill tutorials. Squad Teamwork playlist for short, you will learn skills like individual movement techniques, camouflage, fieldcraft, playing dead, weapon flow in compressed environments, pre-fire close quarters combat breaching, combined arms breach, mentality and discipline from WW2 training videos like "Kill or Be Killed"... Unique hard to find combat footage of close quarters fighting.
