Blackscreen - PR has closed, cleaning up resources

Hello, got new computer, trying to install PR - all fine. When I press play it says that somekind ddl file is missing. I fixed that now when I turn it on, it shows black screen then without no errors or anything it says PR has closed, cleaning up resources. Tried same on windowed it gives no error.

go to your video settings and set your resolution to 1024 x 768@60




or go to your Documents\ProjectReality\Profiles\0001 and open video.con

change

VideoSettings.setResolution 1280x600@75Hz

to

VideoSettings.setResolution 1280x600@60Hz

save

Thanks, sadly I figured something else. Deleted profiles, made a firewall exception - now it works.

that works too, the issue was your settings had a higher refresh rate than what your display could show. deleting profiles will reset that, not sure why it was wrong the first time, installer or user error?

Okay now another problem...When I alt-tab out and back in game I cant see map, icons on right side like weapons,bandage, when pressing escape don't see loading main menu box. Help

this is a known issue with windows 8. one solution is disabling windows 7 compatibility mode if you're using it. i would try this method first. another is to play in fullscreen windowed mode

both work great, it'll allow you put the PR window away but it's still running in the background without losing the user interface. the problem with this is some people report that it causes loss of textures..

this is a windows 8 thing, and bf2 doesn't seem to like it that much

I can't speak on ts when I have PR running. I have to alt-tab for it.
