Headshots don't kill?

I was testing some ballistics, and while using the mosin-nagant, and I noticed headshots didn't kill. I tested with a dummy at point blank range, and he was only wounded. Are headshot kills removed with small arms fire?

No, headshots do instant kill, no matter the caliber. You probably just experienced the full glory of BF2's inconsistent hit detection.

Can you confirm it was only Mosin? Did you test it on different occasions?

No, just mosin. I was testing it on the Bootcamp server with another.

now this is were PR jargon can become confusing. when you say you shot him in the head and he was wounded, you mean his character dropped to the floor and could be revived? or you mean he stood there and just got hurt to the point of bleeding?

He was critically wounded and could be revived. It did not kill him. I used both the regular mosin nagant, and the one with the scope just in case it might have been class related.

Well, yeah it has always been like that. Anything below .50cal in the head doesnt make you dead dead. Misunderstood your question first. Knife does though.

Shotgun kills dead dead as well since 1.3.
