UAE has all Mumble ports blocked. Any work around?

Post by slyeel2364 »

Unfortunately for whatever reason, the United Arab Emirates has all Mumble connection/ports blocked. I am not the one that needs help though as I live in the US, but my friend in the UAE has wanted to play PR and is not able to enjoy the full experience as he can't hear anyone, and is unable to communicate because mumble is blocked in his country. Are there any workarounds for this problem?

There are various proxies for mumble available around the world.

We used to have a list but each of those were changed/shutdown eventually.

He can go to options and select proxy.

It's up to you to find a working proxy though.

If you're home internet is fast enough you could actually set yourself up as his proxy.

I've looked around for about and hour and a half and everything I find on how to make a proxy either seems ridiculously complicated or look like suspicious websites. Any help on getting started on making a proxy?

try this

Free Proxy List ? Public Proxy Servers (IP PORT) ? Hide My ***!

scroll down

tell your friend from UAE to go on mumble and:

1. go to configure
2. select settings, advanced, network, proxy
3. input proxy ip

if that doesn't work, you could -try- to get him on a VPN.. although it might be laggy for him to game on that, which would be counter intuitive

Guys try a service like Watch UK TV Abroad - My Expat Network - Best UK VPN

The link works in the UAE. My dad uses it all the time with no issues in AD.

Tried my VPN and it worked, but the ping went up to about 400 which made it horrible to play :(

Just buy a normal VPN access. They are usually 5-10 bucks per month and don't limit your bandwidth. Affordable.

Problem is that most big VPN providers are blocked too. I know that from my time in Muttrah in Oman :D

The one I posted works in the UAE. The only thing we could not get to work is FaceTime. Skype works. But never tried Mumble. TS3 works fine as well (but thats without a VPN)

Their law just like most Muslim countries is based on Sharia law. They like to know what everyone is saying. So VOIP programs are a no no as they can't monitor them.

Some say they law is getting more relaxed but I have seen recent articles that its getting tougher.
