GER replacing G36

According to under-secretary of state in the defense ministry, 600x G27P and 600x MG4 are to be introduced in late 2016. The first 60 G27P are going to be delievered in November. They are to replace G36 where needed for units in the field. There will be a mixture of these weapons in the units.

This is not a replacement of the G36, it is just adding these weapons until further investigations have come to a conclusion. For example, the G27P itself hasn't been properly tested extreme conditions etc.

Whole thing costs 18m €. The G27 is based on HK417, not HK416.

Omfg, I cringe at these fucking articles, headline says the G36 is getting replaced(in number of hundreds, yeah of course), then they sort of row back and they it's to supplement the Bundeswehr's mixture of weapons(which it is, gives a wider variety of choices for different missions) and then they go back to say it's an interim solution(How is it an interim solution when the BW had been doing this since 2008 or something, when they started to re-fit the G3 as DMR for combat?). This is horseshit.

well, but it is an interim solution? If it wasn't, they could wait for the investigations to be done and then order new shit. Now they pay HK 18 million € because reasons. There aren't even any combat units in the field right now that could run into the alleged problems that the G36 has.

Says pretty much the same as the Sueddeutsche Article.

The future of G36 will be decided in 2016. Until then, there is no point in replacing the G36 for the German Forces in PR.

So that's where the article comes from. Then I'm not surprised with how the articles turned out, Bundeswehr-Sprech(German Army speaking manners) is misleading when you're not into these matters. In this case the interim solution isn't that we get MG4 and G27P as part of a replacement option for the G36, BUT that we're getting 60 each now because the industry can't give us the 600 each that we would need to outfit our combat units. This is further indicated near the bottom: "With these two weapons it is possible[...] to reduce the known deficit[They are talking about the G36's accuracy not being good enough - whether they mean this design related or due to the alleged overheating problems is anyone's guess] in a short to medium term manner."

Short to medium term. Not interim.

Even tho our Bundeswehr lives in the future with working Puma and NH90, we are not looking at making them more "futuristic". We will keep the G36 and all its problems until it gets officially fully replaced.
