Error 1221 "cannot access update list" on startup

Hey all! The issue first cropped up back in August. When I press play on the opening screen, the game asks me if I want to update. If I select yes, I get the above error.

The strange thing is, I uninstalled my previous copy of PR:BF, reinstalled a new one today, and ran it fine the first time. I was queried for an update on my first run, and lo and behold the launcher found the prerequisite update! However, I then closed out PR:BF to change some settings associated with PTT, and when I started it back up, I got the 1221 error.

I assume the game is in some way blocked from viewing the update list after the first time it is run, but I have no idea why. Any advice?

did you install PR v1.3 or v1.31?

Your firewall or router is blocking access to the port used to connect to the server that hosts the downloads

Fixed it by running in Windows 8 compatibility mode.
