Nice Job keeping PR alive

Post by sgtsixpack »

I haven't logged into the forum since 2011, so that would give you an indication of when I last played. It may have something to do with BF:BC2 coming out. I've played 700 hrs of BF3 and recently purchased (via hola proxy) BF4 premium and played 35hr of that. I played 2142 for a couple of rounds when I saw a steam friend playing it. Although they must run on the same engine (same text as BF2) PR looks alot better than 2142 and also feels better (maybe lower ping) because my view was kind of rubberbanding.

Wasn't PR ported to another engine?

There were two attempts to go to ArmA (2 & 3 respectively). Neither one got very far.

Squad is PR's spiritual successor now.
Players might be hardcoded, but that sure doesn't seem to stop anybody from trying.

The only winning move is not to play. Insurgency, that is.

But this mode went standalone and BF2 is not needed. :)

Nope. PR is still on good ol' Refractor 2 from BF2.

Although you might want to check out Squad as that is the spiritual successor to PR.

The Arma series all feel very unpolished to me. I play them actively but they always feel like an alpha that is riddles with bugs.

I am very much looking forward to Squad. I plan on pre-ordering it this weekend and have heard great things about it from those I know whom have it.

COOP is the future ;p fix all the dead maps introduced in 1.3 --- 1.2 coop was far better! more maps / better layouts / less crashing !
