Rules | BASED Community

Who are we?

Easy, we are BASED. BASED has its foundation built around two principles:

1. Have the highest quality of game play and servers possible.
2. Have an inviting and friendly community consisting of numerous units, clans, and affiliates from every corner of the globe.

We pride ourselves in our capacity to provide a well balanced, engaging, and (most importantly) fun atmosphere for users of all skill levels. Our diverse staff has been involved in the operation of various game servers (most notably Project Reality) for several years, and aims to take the experiences and principals we have accumulated to provide servers of the highest quality.

What's to come and what's already here?

In our present state, BASED has a functioning forum and teamspeak and a North-American PRBF2 server (with addresses found below). With future plans to expand into Europe. We will set up guidelines and rules in the coming weeks for this community to be ran on. We aim to deliver a quality gaming experience and will continue to expand and explore new games and ideas long into the future. This is only just the beginning.

For everyone complaining about Free Candy Van's playerbase I would highly recommend this server. If Free Candy Van is shitty fast food then BasedNA is 5 star fine dining.

I'll hop on this one for sure!
If teamwork is darn well, it will be my priority server to join.

EDIT: Questions on MECH INF...

1. Is the squad leader REQUIRED to be on foot? Instead of being driver/gunner for APC?

2. Will MECH INF squads be disbanded if the squad is NOT together? (Such as just the APC is just being used as an APC squad would... the APC is no where near the rest of the infantry on foot.)

Your mech infantry rules are very dandy!

First, Thanks for giving us a shot matt.

We talked about it a decent amount, But in the end decided that its up to the squad lead what he wishes to be on foot or drive. I personally lead from the driver seat, but its not required to be on foot as a mech inf squad leader.

Obviously a mech inf squad that is acting like a free kit squad. Is a free kit squad. It comes down to what the admin decides at the time.

We've put a lot of hours into trying to get a good rule set for this. If problems arise, let us know. Were open to all feedback :)

Had some quite noticeable lag today. Don't know what caused it but people in vehicles were complaining in chat all the time about not being able to hit things with the new turret mechanics combined with the lagg.

Also question, would you be able to use a merkava in a mech inf squad? (on maps where there is only 1 it's easier to do than to solve it on maps with 3/4 merkava tanks). Just out of curiosity if I could run a Merkava mech inf squad some day.

The lag is most likely caused by us hosting the PR update files.
But we had a round xianshang without any lag surprisingly before so I do not think this is a general server issue.

(Edit ... or how is the one map called which is lagging all the time at round start? )

We tested the server in 1.3 yesterday. The server ran fine. The only 2 things that have changed since then is, PR update hosting, and pr 1.3.5.

Lag was caused by us hosting the patch download as well as a server.

We were hosting the pr update files. It used alot of our bandwidth. Wasn't expecting so many downloads.

As to your question about mech inf merkava. Let me ramble a bit about this.

I am personally a fan of our original mech inf rule. There was no actual rule, you just asked APC squad if you could take their APC. 9/10 times they would say yes (If you weren't an ******* in PR).

But after lengthy discussion between admins and players over many months, we have come to our current rules on mech inf.

So technically "no you cant claim a merkava under mech inf".

But, on a map like Gaza or Beirut, it would be perfectly okay to make "tank + inf" and have 8 guys in the back. I've done it before with my friends, its definitely not against the rules as long as your for fill your role as "tank" squad.

We removed the BASED mirror for updater for now, hope that fixes the lag issues. Thanks for providing it and helping to spread update on day one :)
