ZSL-92 IFV / Malyutka ATGM feedback

Post by Jacksonez__ »

The HJ-73 ATGM on ZSL-92 IFV version is absolutely horrible and not suitable for APCs. The time until missile leaves is too long (3,5-4 seconds). You can literally spot the target first, attempt to shoot ATGM and still be killed by the target which you saw first. How I know? Because that happened to me in Wanda Shan.

E: Rather discuss AT-3 Malyutka ATGM on this thread than ZSL-92 ifv.

Reason: hj73 not hj8

It's actually HJ-9.

Which(being 152mm instead of HJ-8's 120mm) should be at least more powerful than HJ-8.

Look on the bright side, at least you don't have to wait 15 seconds to extend the launcher after moving.

Same thing happened to me on Friday, we had a tank caught in between 2 of these IFVs but the tank simply rolled into the direction of each and killed it while we couldn't even shoot. They didn't even know there were 2 of the IFVs and we still couldn't shoot. Was great...

I'd much rather wait for 15s to deploy the ATGM after stopping as I could still set up and ambush a tank. Right now you just sit there and kinda hope the tank crew is blind.

Well this is awkward because it is actually HJ-73 ATGM which is Malyutka not HJ-8 or -9 but just a PLA given name to it. I tested and it takes around 4,25-4,35 (!) seconds for the missile to launch. That is just exeggerated.

Is that some actual fact that it takes around 4 seconds for malyutka to launch or?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RmswQ5KjHcI like if you watch this video and look carefully at the gunner's thumb at 2:49: as he squeezes the trigger, the missile leaves immediately. Or 3:28. The gunner pushes the trigger, the at-3 missile gets launched immediately from the launch pad. I am pretty sure the vehicle launch pads use same mechanism as the ground launch pad. At least the BMP-1 ATGM launch pad looks almost identical to the ground launch pad.

Why would there be 4 seconds delay? You can clearly see there is no (or VERY TINY) delay.

Could R-Devs give their word on this one?

It was HJ-9, because I found that the APC name you provided, pre-edit, was for the WZ-551 re-name that has the 4 missiles on top.
