The price of eyes

Post by W.Darwin »

I remember Project Reality as a mod where a small community of dedicated gamer could enjoy teamwork and mature experiences through a well blended arcade/milsim game . This period died with the mediatization of the mod.

While the game received a wave of popularity, its quality decreased.

The multiple barrier of the mod has been what kept it shining.

BF2 patch 1.41
patch 1.5
Punkbuster
.etc

That protocol kept the trolls and the asshats away from the game.

I am tired of players walking over marked mines.

And on top of that, the servers are often poorly administrated. Immature or controls freak often take the role of admin. I can probably list on one hand the number of good admins executing the management of the principals running servers.

Its a shame because this mod probably is standing on the top of First person shooter genre.

It should be a standard. Future game in the same style should be called as ''PR-Like'' video-games.

..

We would need an official Project Reality server. Administrated by the finnest of dev's
to play this game as it should.

Okay, where should the server be hosted, and which R-DEVs would you like to be the administrators of this server?

Idk, maybe you can't feel me man. I'm not a programmer.

All I know is PR has a bigger potential in its daily basis than what is available for the community to play on right now. I heard alot of ideas on the forum and in-game.

I just posted this idea as a draft so maybe someone already in charge might be interested

I think it could be easy although to create a server more ''official'' so we dont have random commander's anymore and useless **** like 2 recons squads. Overall, to increase the logistic and the functionnality of the teams in-game. In order to enjoy what this game has to offer.

Disagree. You do sometimes end up on a bad server, but I find that's rare. And if it is a problem, you can always just quit the match and find another server to play on - that is the great thing about the boost in popularity, there are more people playing now.

Most of the time you can get into a squad that has a decent leader, and the teamwork is great. Sometimes you'll end up on a team that is infinitely worse than the opposition. But that's online gaming for you.

I am sorry my friend, but you joined in 2015. I am not adressing to you as your portrait of the game is juvenile.

This server is inexistent.

Or maybe you talk about the annual PR tournament server AKA 'PRT C11 Official Battle Server #1'

Well, this server is running to a total of 10 days a year ~

Not the server. He meant join the actual tournament with the button at the top right of the page.

As to your "finnest of dev's" (quoted), there are many server administrators that play PR more than the developers. They don't really sit down and "play" PR that much any more. Of course, some do more than others. Also, since they barely play in public, how do you expect them to administrate a server?

It is not a matter of game experience as for what make a good admin.

Dev or not. My point was that having an administration that manage PR with passion and maturity is required. And usually the creators are passionnate eheh :D

I refuse to play "like I should". As long as I don't break a rule I play like I want to and what's most likely to yield success.

Oooh, a rebel

How many time do you get in a squad to pick the sniper kit then leave it to make your own recon squad uh? hehe

Or better,
how do you like playing in a round without Fobs? I admit some maps are looking good enough to find satisfaction in hiking but still huuh

Wait wait, the best one. ---> How d'you like not having a fob, walking 600 meters in-game to be blasted by ur friendly APC in the end? hmm?

I believe a server titled '' PROJECT REALITY OFFICIAL SERVER '' would influence players to adopt a more civilised/mature/cooperative approach of the game. (:

Why would a developer suddenly make a decent admin? Makes no sense.

Official servers in PR would be bad IMO. We did it during the v1.0 beta and it didn't go all that well IMO.

Muh good ol' days.

They never existed. Trolls, minewalkers, kit thieves, lonewolves, helicopter crashers, teammates who don't listen, commanders stuck up their own asses, every ill of society has been a part of PR since the beginning. There is no moral decay here.
Players might be hardcoded, but that sure doesn't seem to stop anybody from trying.

The only winning move is not to play. Insurgency, that is.

Aren't all PR servers technically "official" anyway? What with the whole vetting/licensing procedure, it not as if just anyone can set one up.

That's a bullshit attitude. Forum presence is not a meaningful metric. Besides, his join date and first posts predate your first post on this forum.

Oh you mean those days when mumble wasn't even integrated and some people still used vBF2 VOIP and it was all a mess? Sure... those were the days... -.-'''

Stop complaining and help the new players or shut up. PERIOD. END OF THE STORY.
