And if... the map be removed?

Post by heborn »

So... in the brazilian staff server the most discussed topic is how to encourage teamwork, I dont do part of the staff but I have a idea. I know, I know, this idea may seem completely crazy, but what if it works? remove the map of the other members than the squad leader... Map avaible only for dead and SL players.

besides stimulating teamwork, stimulate the prior study of maps too, and makes the game much more realistic, maybe it is not for the "normal mode", but who knows for a hardcore mode?

to find the squad, in the place of the map, can put a black sheet with the player position, the position of the leader and the spreadsheet of coordinates, only

present arguments for and against, please.

After reading 3 times I finally understood...

I think I read something similar to this years ago, and I don't think it's a good idea, besides I don't think that's even possible to begin with, so not even worth discussing

but how would you deal in maps where all the buildings look alike, 100% identical?

hey SQL where are you?
I am in the 4-store building
Ah, which one, there are one hundread os these on this map
Just follow the marker
I have no map, can't see the marker
***silence

there is a ton more of problems that follow along with this idea

sorry, I do not speak fluent English so I used google help rsrs, but.... you can see the marker in the compass too, and I say: "in the place of the map, can put a black sheet with player position, the position of the leader and the spreadsheet of coordinates".

and it also increase the immersion thousands of times too

but I still thinking, this "black sheet" in the place of the map to see SL and coordinates is not necessary, we have the marker in campass and in 3D too, and only the leader already seeing the coordinates is necessary

Resistance & Liberation, a mod for Half-Life 2 had this feature. The game really wanted to immerse you in WWII and did this well. Even though the maps were very small, people usually did not move out together. Getting people to move as a squad depends largely on the style of the game and the sort of players that play the game.

I believe removing the map for squad members in PR will only hinder the game and not make it more likely for squad members to follow their SL.

So that's what I said, this would require a totally dedicated game for teamwork , the leader regroup the squad and then they follow the leader seeing the vision , or the local mumble

if you are far from the SL , just call for the SL put a marker and you follow the compass.

this would further increase the realism, for example, I open the map a hundred times for game , and this very strip immersion , even use the map to recognize whether it is friend or enemy retire the immersion and a lot of realism

I honed the idea , and if there was a mark only to SL 's position in compass ?

The main problem is that players are hardcoded and we can't simulate them real life soldiers who's reading and reconing area before move in. PR is still a game.

It does not interfere to be a game, we have the graphs 3D precisely for that, the SL reagroup the squad with the "squad leader's mark" (a special mark in this case only for know the SL's position), and we locate the position seeing him in sight and compass. To know the map locations just study the map

Dont cost nothing do a test for this, not to mention that it will increase the immersion in game thousands of times, pr is an immersive game , however what takes much of this immersiveness is for the game to have a "second hud " which I consider to be the map , summarize everything one hud , greatly increase the immersion , the compass could also have the flag attack and defense
